Airborne School:
U.S. Army Airborne School Overview Jump from a C-17 Blood on the Risers - Paratrooper Song If you wish to have Airborne school it needs to be in your enlistment contract. It's hit or miss in any other way and it's largely miss. It is very difficult to get Airborne school unless it is in your enlistment contract. You might get assurances from your recruiter or from the MEPS but if it is not in your contract your probably not going to get it. Another way is to get Airborne School is to enlist in a National Guard or Army Reserve unit that is Airborne qualified. Air Assault School: U.S. Army Air Assault School Overview Air Assault School 90 foot rappel Air Assault school IS mandatory if your assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. Shortly after arriving there you will be assigned a school date. In the 1980's usually a lot of soldiers that would PCS from Europe would get assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and I suspect that is still the case (ask a recruiter though). You can also get Air Assault School if your assigned to a National Guard or Reserve unit that is Air Assault qualified. Some other Army units also stress Air Assault School. AAS School is easier to get then Airborne School is but is usually not done through a enlistment contract. Usually it is done via a assigned unit. Army Schools Requirements Reg AR Dealing with Army Schools start reading from Page 29 Just providing here as guidance and thats all. Note what it states on the age cap for Airborne school (36) and the exception to that requirement (E5 and above with additional medical clearance) because that question is asked sometimes of the older returning to service soldiers (prior service). Following the Airborne school requirements are some of those concerning Ranger and Special Forces. For the latter two Ranger and SF there is probably more that you need to know which is not covered in the reg but this is a good starting point. This message has been edited.
