I am a wife of a CSM reservist and an FRG leader. I have had a friend of mine ask for some help from a lady she works with. Her son is active duty and is in Iraq. he is normally stationed at Baumholder, Germany. He's with the 1-6th infantry. I'm trying to find out if they have a support group or anyone I can get in touch with to help this lady get a connection with someone to talk to. I've looked in different places on the internet but can't find anything for support for this group in Germany. Any advice?
there may not be one, or there may not be a Virtual FRG presence/website. I Know I have at my disposal a complete list of the Fleet and Family Support Centers around the globe, and they keep the Master list of Ombudsmen for each base. does the Army have something similar?
Failing that, you may just have to email the 1-6th's PAO or something( assuming you have a website for them..or contact information from the Baumholder website?)
she can try applying for an account at virtual amry FRG-the site will ask for a soldier sponsers name-and last four. The brigade or Battalion FRSA will contact the soldier thru rear d before approving the account-once approved she will have access to the units web site there. Also -they are attached to 3rd BCT of 4ID-which is one of the units i work with so i have contacts with them for very general-not battalion specific information.
