You do not need to be a member of a Veterans organization to receive their assistance. The DAV, AMVETS, VFW and other veterans organizations will provide the assistance or their Service Officers without regards to membership.

Veterans must choose their VSO wisely. It is important to make a lasting commitment to a service organization since, for example, if you choose the DAV, VFW or any other large national organization, they are going to expend a great deal of resources and don't like, veterans to hop around from one organization to another.

On the other hand.....
If hopping around is what it takes for you to get where you need to go, or the talk does the talk but doesn't do the walk, or the promises of good become envelopes of compromise, or the spirited guide becomes lackadaisical, then by all means, "Hop the Hop." My humble opinion. Freddy

I am a life member of the DAV. They have gone to bat for me every time I have asked them to for 15 years.
I have also seen them go to bat for guy's that are not members and they worked just as hard for them.
The one thing I will add is that you must have a VSO to get anywhere within the VA.

Yes, of course that's true Dave, Thank you and I am sorry I did not mention that in my post.

The DAV is one of the premier veteran's organizations, and a good one.
