Thanks for this article. It just goes to show that veterans must be on the up and up with both the VA and SSA or ELSE!

If anyone is receiving compensation from the VA, insure that all parties have the latest information relative to your financial situation. The consequences of falsifying Federal data are significant.

Bill seeks to speed some disability payments

By Mary Mosquera
Published on August 7, 2008

A bill now in the Senate would require the Veterans Affairs Department to modernize its disability claims process for injured service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The legislation, sponsored by Sens. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), seeks to shorten the time it takes for severely injured veterans to receive initial disability payments and promote more use of information technology in the disability claims process.

This sounds good ,,, quick question for you or your opinion,,,,,If you have a claim in, do you think it would help if a High ranking Senator checks on it?

Sometimes a Congressional inquiry can help. It depends upon the clout of the individual legislator.

Use whatever means you can to get your claim processed. You have earned your pay and should get the benefit of your service!

Whether it helps or not is a toss up. Like the OldCop said (He's a wealth of information). What he didn't say and you might want to know is that it will also stop your claim in its tracks, while the VA processes his request, looks at it, then has to write him back a CYA letter.

You bet it will stop a claim in it's tracks. Veterans must be very careful in keeping all parties fully informed about their status.

I think at the time, with all thats going on,,the CRSC 61 made me mad to put it easy. If Senator McConnell can help, let him help. If it slows down ,,lt will slow dow,,, im taking chance I know.

QTC is headed by former VA Secretary Anthony J. Principi. Current VA Secretary James Peake was a top executive at QTC. I think you see where this all could lead.

VA SECRETARY PEAKE'S REMARK SMACKS OF AGE
DISCRIMINATION --

Says VA needs young, tech-savvy workers: "Getting rid of some of those older-age guys in the work force is not that bad. It gives you the opportunity to move forward."

WOW!!!!

But, on the other hand...maybe some of those "older-age guys" should go. How old is Secretary Peake, anyway? Doesn't look a day over 90 to me.
