My clinical social worker at the VA handed me the forms for filing a claim and states there is a person there 2 days a week that can help me file. The social worker tells me to just write down whatever I want to file for...

Should I take this direction or work with a VSO at Amvets etc?

I go next weekend for a 3 hour "intake" with the PTSR clinic. Im an OIF veteran 11B20.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions you can give-

Welcome to PTSD Info and Links. You need to go through the VSO, AMVETS is a good one. Doing the filing on your own is a bad mistake.

The best advice is to go to your local Regional Office and interview the various service organizations and find the best match. There are a wide variety of service organizations and some are more effective in some regional offices than others.
