Please be very careful what you say and do in this forum as there are a lot of people here dealing with serious issues which adversely affect them. While I haven't posted here in several years, I can truly say the support and brotherly love I received on this board were instrumental in helping me finally make my way home.

Also, please don't use this forum to vent your anger or lash out at others for their differences in approach or opinions as there is no one single way to make it home. This forum's whole purpose is to share our differences, commonalities and unique experiences in order to help the next Brother or Sister so they can find their way back too. Anyone whose truly been there knows the agony of extreme loneliness, survivor's guilt, fitful nightmarish sleep, depression and the whole cycle of anxieties while waiting for the next bad thing to come at you in life when in truth it's just PTSD's cognitive distortion of FEAR - false evidence appearing real.

PTSD is a permanent chemical imbalance within the brain which means it never goes away. However, by learning new techniques known as "tools" to help enhance our rational thought processes, we restimulate brain growth which literally re-hardwires us so we can successfully manageme our disorder and live a good life. I thought stopping drinking was the answer and when I found out I had PTSD in the VA 28 day program, I looked the Doc straight in his eye and asked "Is there was anything else I should know about?" It was like dang, what's next? Ha ha ha, like I said, I was waiting for the next bad thing to come down the trail - FEAR was kicking my butt. Now I think okay, this situation or that is bad but it could be a heck of a lot worse. At least no one's shooting at me! Infinitely much better lifestyle today.

What I just shared is the new technological thought and it works for me. However I'm just one guy so what works for me might not necessarily work for you as it's all individual. Sharing our ideas, experiences and concepts is our best ticket home now just like it was during the war. We stood together once so lets do it again because regardless of what anyone else in society says: "We come together, we stay together, we leave together."

Take care Brothers and Sisters, may you always find the path God has in store for you. And for anyone that is offended by my mention of God, my new found core belief is what keeps my sanity. I'm not here to save your soul, just another Brother trying to help you save your backside. Best of luck and God's blessings to us all.

Semper Fi,
Deano

Since I have been a moderator on PTSD forums since 2003, I do believe we have corrected problems every time an infraction occurred. If you have specific issues please e-mail me through the Military.com profile.

Just heard the tale about someone being very disruptive so I came back to post this. I was in this topic 2000-1 and received a lot of help here so I came back to pay it forward. You all have a good thing going, my compliments on your great work. Bravo Zulu and welcome home Brother.
