Hooligan,
You have to scan and upload the photo somewhere on the web (the Fred's Place photo albums might be good - just use his utility to upload).

Then, use the image button in the reply window when you want to post it here - you'll enter the URL of the photo's location. The image button is immediately to the left of the "</>" button in the "Post a reply" window.

First a correction to my earlier post. The unrep wasn't on Hotel but on OS Delta while I was on the Bibb. This is the order I had them in my photo album so I guess that was the order they were taken. Even though the last picture doesn't show it, I remember the boys on the bow getting their feet wet.

CGC Owasco on the way up

Catching some airtime

dipping the bow

Well, let's see if this works.

Didn't work. Is it because I used flickr? I also posted them on Fred's Place but I got a msg that it may be after the weekend before they're up.

If you right click on the empty box and then left click view image you can see the photos.

1790, what browser and OS do you use? When I right click the empty box, I get a 'show picture' option but left clicking that doesn't bring it up. My brother has been bugging me to switch to FireFox (?) I don't know if that would make a difference. I'm uploading the pictures to KodakGallery and will try that. Also I just joined another military site (don't know if I can list it here) but they have a photo section, too. If kodak doesn't work I'll try that.

I'll just try one right now.

No joy. I'll try the other site in a couple days or wait for Fred's Place to get the pictures up.

Try view picture rather than show picture. I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser.

I'm using Internet explorer 8. "Show picture" doesn't work and there is no "view picture" option.

Too bad too since I used to be on the Taney.

Maybe George will work his magic and make pictures appear where there was once just a red X squared?

I tried again this early this morning using photobucket with no luck. I found this thread http://forums.military.com/eve...5796/m/6380079991001 and tried to follow it but no luck.

Stan, two things-first I made a memory error when I said I was on the Taney when I took the pictures in question. It turns out I was on the Bibb then---Taney later. The pictures are of the 255 CGC Owasco taken from the Bibb when she was relieving us on OS Delta.

Second-since we can't see other's detailed profiles anymore, when were you on the Taney. I was a QM on her Aug. '73 'till April (I think) '75.

If anyone wants to see the pictures before I can get'er done, go to flickr and type WHEC-39 into the search bar.

Heck, you are a mere child! I went on board the Taney fresh out of boot camp in 1960 and was there for two years. Spent time on a 255 also. And two 311's. And a 378. And two 180's. I'm fond of all of them, but the 327's have a special spot in my heart.

When you reported aboard the Taney is the same time I was being placed on TDRL.

I know what the CG can do. Sell it through the Foreign Military Sales program to a 3rd world country. Take the $ and give it to CG-8 and CG-8D. I am sure they will find a good worthless contract to issue for CFO Audit remediation efforts. Since 2004, $100M+ and counting.

Better set some of that money aside to spend on DCU's for any other ship's crews that go anywhere near the Mideast. Wink

Scuttlebutt is saying that the yard has already fessed up to it being an issue with one of their folks, performing unauthorized work, and has asked the CG to provide work orders for all repairs on the yards dime.

MC, that is not just scuttlebutt, that is fact. Work was started before it was given the go ahead. I was on duty that day and a fire watch was never assigned to that space either by the shipyard or crews fire watch section. During a debrief with the local fire fighters, they stated that the NFTI was whited out, which means 1200+ degrees in the space. Not a good duty day!
