Pat:

I've not heard from the association about this, thanks; however, it seems like a movement to another location versus the sinking of Ingham is the issue for her.

I hope she finds a new home. I enjoyed my time on her.

Best Wishes

Dave,

Maybe someone from the association could enlighten us. I would hate to see Ingham join Bibb, Campbell and Duane

Be well

I was the Coxswain on CG41493 from Station Islamorada and sat there about 100 yrds away as the Bibb slipped under near Molasses Reef.

I never served on the Bibb but still, it was kind of sad to watch.

My late husband Floyd Stormer served on the DUANE I'm sad to think it was sunk. Question where was in sunk? To make a reef or what?

I was on the Ingham in the mid 80's the year we got the gold hull number as the oldest vessel. I've visited her at Patriot's Point several times over the past 20 years. It is very evident that there is very little maintenance being performed to maintain her. Is the maintainence the responsibility of the museum or the Ingham Association?

Maintenance is the responsibility of Patriots Point.

Stormer Duane is next to Bibb as a Reef.

here is a youtube video on it (remember to remove the quotation marks and paste it in a new browser window).

Esther, this may help to give you a visual reference on where the Duane and Bibb were sunk.

IMHO, better to be sunk as a target or reef than to be cut up for scrap and shipped overseas.

I saw ex-Ponchatrain and another 255 go that way in the early 80's in Richmond, CA.

Ahh, Patrick you 'ol salty dog, yer mistaken. Bibb is alive and well, sitting on my workbench. Probably safer than weather station.... Wink

Started this in late March, finished up today. 1/192 scale, 'bout 20.5 inches LOA. Scratch built out of a redwood 4x4. Lotta hours.

Retirement is out - friggin - standing.

Man, that takes some talent Wheeler, I'm envious . When you're talking about cutters that went down, don't forget about the Blackhaw.

Hey Stan -
Nope, never did. Seems like I got stuck between buying a 30K+ resto-rod or a beater that I'd have to wrench every weekend - not a lot in between. Missed two that I'm kicking myself over. A '52 resto 5 window - A/T, disc / crate 350 that went fairly cheap (20K) and a '53 that had every option available back then - was owned by Tori Spelling at one time. Went surprisingly cheap, 18K or so. Both were drop dead gorgeous, but I waited too long... Also spent a lot of time looking at / driving 55-57 Cameos. Ended up with an 09 Tacoma. 6 cyl, air conditioning, CD player... Go figure. I must be getting old.

Steve,

Well, look at it his way...it gave you time to build that model. Cool

I'm impressed with both the model and your workshop.

Hey! Wanna buy a 1951 Ford Business coupe? 327, TH 350, Ford 9", Mustang II front end.....runs fine, just needs a couple minor things like a speedo cable and a trans pan gasket.....

Glad to hear you are enjoying retirement.
