Anyone out there rcvd orders for either the Feb or the Mar Chief Petty Officer Academy?
I heard rumor that they were backlogged 6-8 months... and that March orders are already out. Thanks. |

I put in my request for the Jan, Feb, or Mar class in late August. Got orders to the March class this past Wednesday.

For those that will be at the Academy at the end of November,(Class 146) the Academy has invited the members of Class 1 to be there for the 25th reunion. There were 10 in that class, but one has passed away.

I too am attending the CPO Academy soon and was wondering if it is a requirement for me to get a "high and tight" hair cut and be 30lbs over my MAW to attend? Looking at previous class photos it would appear so...

Just stating the obvious. I believe gaining weight is part of becoming a chief. Just look around. Weight requirements do not apply to E-7 and above.

You may rest easy... I was in that last class. I can assure you that no one was over weight.

As you know most anonymous posters don't know fact from fiction.... While I often was at the top end of my weight limit, I got weighed as an E-9 until I retired. Come on rusty.. be a man and fill in your profile. Wray.... |

I'm in the "submitted" column for the March class. I understand that there are about 20 people in front of me waiting for that already overbooked class. Wish me luck....

Filling in a profile would just open me up for attack. Post something someone doesn't like and they will attack your credentials. It happens on every forum. No, thanks Wray.

Let's see here. I made Chief in 1985 and weighed 165 pounds. Made Senior in 1997 and weighed 165 pounds. Retired in 2002 and weighed 165 pounds. Now here I sit as a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer and weigh 165 pounds.
I guess I didn't get the memo. Alan |

rusty, you have no credentials.... you also have no credibility... you say the weight requirements do not apply to E-7 and above, but you won't provide your name...
Spineless.... Wray... |

Rusty lad, I think you already did that! I am much more impressed about the Coast Guard's management of their Physical Fitness Appearance Program (aka Weight Program) now, 6 years after retirement then I was when on active duty. Until the Coast Guard actually makes everyone partake in mandatory PT and conditioning I will call it an appearance program - but with an attitude like you show in your posts - your comments seem arrogant; like you are a member of a smaller more select group. Hopefully your posts are meant to be sarcastic and humorous; if not please take advantage of the CPO Academy to learn about leadership and management! |

Rusty, is UN-INFORMED! commands are to ensure that all "C" school students meet CG standards prior to departing for the school. The CPO Academy takes health and well-being very seriously and screens all students (Air Force, Coast Guard, International, etc) within the first few days of reporting. Those that do not meet the standards are sent back to their unit immediately. I believe they also follow-up with the students command to figure out why the member was sent to Petaluma under those conditions.

Mr. Hecht,
Ok, Ok there a few Chief's with in standards. I just hope I don't become a member of the "blue button" club as I make Chief. It appears as if most of the members responding to this forum are retired or veterans. Therefore you do not see the un-fit our of shape coasties I see everyday. Chief Wilber, I am aware commands are to ensure compliance with the weight program prior to sending members to school. However when it is the command attending the "C" school do you actually think their holding themselves to the same standard? And Wray, You just don't make any sense at all. You should kick back with a beer, get off the computer and enjoy retirement! Scott |

"rusty, you have no credentials.... you also have no credibility... you say the weight requirements do not apply to E-7 and above, but you won't provide your name...
Spineless.... Wray..." And this would add what value? Is his message valid or not? If it is, then why do you need to know his name? |
