There once was talk from the rumor mill, that both of the 270's in New Hampshire were being moved to a new homeport....South Portland, Maine.
Anyone else hear about that, or am I just imagining that.

If I remember right, didn't they just get homeported to NH from New Bedford not that long ago??

I sat down by the water today enjoying a nice Moe's sub sandwich. The Tamaroa was there at the Portmouth Naval Shipyard along with a 210'.

Yes it was in the 2001-2003 time frame.

As for the OP...news to me and those 270's are customers of mine so I think I would have heard that rumor too... Confused

Ditto to 92Guru . . .The current climate on the Portland side of the Harbor is to build a Cruise Ship terminal to accomodate 3 ships at one time, and redo the waterfront to Boston or Baltimore proportions. Coupled with the recent layoff of the Transportation Director and other higher ups in Planning for the City Portland and waterfront staff, a rumor sounds more likely.

The redesign of the Maine State Pier area, that used to be homeport to legendary Coast Guard Cutters, is in a heated battle between developers, designs and city approval which has changed with the tides for about 2 years now, still undecided. We're waiting so we can approach the developer to put a monument to the CG and previous homeported Cutters on the property. We're starting to consider other sites the longer this drags on. No mention of CG coming back to town over there.

Not sure if they could fit them on the South Portland side without dredging. But hey, it's Maine . . .stranger things have happened!

That would be the Tahoma, which is a 270, not Tamaroa.

Time to get some glasses for this aging guy...obviously.

Thanks for the correction.

.....or, they have some cool time machine glasses, the Mighty Z (Tamaroa) used to be there but was decomm'd Feb 1, 94. Or maybe the 'sub' sandwich just reminded them of the old Tam.

Well, I've been lurking around these forums for a long time and I believe this is my first post. But anywho I am currently on the Tahoma and we haven't heard of our homeport being moved. That's not to say it isn't happening but with out any of the crew hearing about it I would say its very unlikely.
