Yes, we're an imperfect country ... and some of the liberal media delights in that, pointing it out to us repeatedly. But, here's a pleasant read about America and our unselfish motives around the world. Enjoy.
> > >When in England at a large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the >Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of >"empire building" by George Bush. > >Powell answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent >many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for >freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked >for in return is enough to bury those who did not return." >It became very quiet in the room. > >************** > >Then, there was a conference in France where a number of international >engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a >break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, >"Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has pulled? He has sent an >aircraft carrier to Indonesiato help the tsunami victims. What does he >intended to do, bomb them?" > >A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have >three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they >are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore >facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 >people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of >fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen >helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from >their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France >have?" >Once again, dead silence. > >***************** > >A U.S.Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included >Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian, and French >Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large >group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. >Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks, but >a French admiral suddenly complained that, "whereas Europeans learn >many languages, Americans learn only English." He then asked, "Why is >it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather >than speaking French?" > >Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied "Maybe it's because >the Brits, Canadians, Aussies. and Americans arranged it so that you >wouldn't have to speak German!" >You could have heard a pin drop! Have a darn good weekend everyone. chapwood........ |

Let's see ...
Didn't Prez Polk suck up California ... and Prez Tyler twisted off a sore piece of ground called Tex-azz, as a result of somethin' called the Spanish-Merkin War ... also, methinks the French Fry Treaty (also known as the Treaty of Paris) passed over them there Filipinos to us, courtesy of the same war. We broke a little furniture when Walter Gibson twisted the arm on King Kalakaua of Hawaii to put wealthy Americans in charge of the island chain ... set off a hundred year annexation effort. But it's not a bad tourist and investment center now ... for rich Japanese. Our war booty take as a result of the divvyin' up the Trust Terrority of Pacific Islands by the United Nations moved the Marianas Islands under our control ... but to our credit, we gave it back about 40 years later. We could go on and on about Panama, Cuba and a few other formerly sovereign places, but ... So, I guess it's true, we didn't "ASK" for any of this ground ... more like a case of chickens delivered by your friendly Teamster; they just "fell off the truck". |

Remember this, my friend ... my service proves there's no question of my loyalty and love for this country ... but we are an imperfect nation, sometimes driven to acts that perpetuate the desires of a well-placed few ...
and may I add, that I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing ... count me on the side of "kick their azz and take their gas" any old time. But we should maybe consider giving Texas back ... |

It is the attacking of American patriotism in this manner that is running this country down. |

So then you have three choices:
a) you can ignore, or otherwise fail to view, see and hear most forms of news reporting b) you can become as rich as rupert frickin' murdoch and invest entirely in media outlets ... upon which time you can order to spin the daily spiel to precisely fit your every whim, desire and agenda. c) you can become the most powerful, charismatic politician ever, and unwaveringly fight, tooth and claw, until you legistlate only happy conservative agenda thoughts to emanate from every TV and radio in the land If you really think there is a conspiracy to spin media coverage in this country, why hasn't it been exposed, engaged, revealed? Oh, right, it HAS been exposed ... by Rush, Hannity, et all ... it's just that all us poor libruls are just too stupid and thick-headed to understand we're being manipulated by the vast left-wing conspiracy ... |

Hannity, Limbaugh, and O'Reilly are more devisive and run more people down in this country, than the rest of the media combined. They are hateful, spiteful and never have anything positive to say. Telling the truth may be a liberal value, but it should not be confused with patriotism. |

I have noticed that ANY time anyone disagrees with a liberal, that individual or group are immediately labeled as hatful, spiteful and liars. What ever happened to open, honest discussion?
