"I'll do anything even strike SK to get outta here"

Sorry for the intrusion, since I don't have anything of value to add to the discussion. However, the above comment struck a funny bone...especially since I was a Storekeeper.

The comment about being an SK sounds like a fate worse then death! Let's see...made it up the SK rating to SKC, went for the lobotomy (or was that a spinectomy) and picked up F&S, and then got the spinectomy (or was that the lobotomy) and made LT, before ending my career as a LCDR. So all in all, going SK wasn't too bad.

Again, just a tongue-in-cheek comment on an early Sunday morning. Hope you get your assignments squared away and spend your days with the one you love.

She is only about three months along. She is on the HS A school list with an estimated 1.5 year wait left. Her command initially said make rate or mutual. So she ordered the books for BM3, Then they said that won't necessarily get her transfered.

A mutual may be the way to go.. I did it as a SN... went from a lighthouse in Deleware Bay, to a SAR station in Cape Canaveral... Not much of a decision there... Wink

Nich,
Sounds similar... my wife is also on the HS list with about a 1.5 year wait for her as well. They told her she could try and mutual... but I cant imagine too many SN wanting to Mutual to a 378'.

MC,
I'll have to make sure I have the right person in mind before I drop anyone under the bus... but I know for sure the Chaplain told her that. That suprised me the most. Eek

MC,
The wonderful advice came from a CWO, a PO1 and CPO, so it must be the best idea! Roll Eyes

have you tried to get a mutual out here to Sector San Diego or maybe tried to get a must fill on the Hamilton? It can't hurt to ask...

If all this is true, I would hope no one in the CoC would suggest that as a means to skip out on an assignment.

The Chaps is the one that has me scratching my head. If that's true, I wouldn't expect that suggestion from a Chaplain!??? Confused

Sad but very true.
I didn't expect it from the Chaplain either... he was very helpful up until that point.

Oh well it is what it is... but no worries... we have no intentions on taking that route. Just have to tough it out for the next while and take opportunities as they come.

My ex-wife and I were both AD. We were together for one tour, then I got stationed in Florida and her at DC. She got lonely and had an affair. I got a divorce. Problem solved. Wink

It's a tough situation any way you slice it but bottom line is that you are here to serve the Coast Guard first. That is what you swore to God & county that you would do when you stood there with your right hand up in the air. The fact of the matter is that the Coast Guard always comes first.

I know, I've been seperated from my active duty wife twice due to transfers. Once for 8 months, and the currently for almost one year. This time we have kids though.

Fact is that the detailers do the best that they can keeping families together, sometimes it's just tough to do.
