Sekar

It is not the posting of the information and it would be apprioprate on this discussion board, its posting it across each and every discussion that makes it look like spam.

This is a email which I send to SEKAR.

I believe that you and Dav82nd, have lost sight of the basic problem. And that is, the continuing use of the all forums button across the entire MILCom boards.

This and this alone is the problem. DAV82nd posting of his WAR and CONFLICT is not the issue.

The issue is WHY does it have to be posted to each and every discussion thread????????

Posting the notice to the main discussion area, like at Freds Place, in the Main discussion header, where you must go, prior to individual areas would accomplish the same notice, without
the need to shotgun each and every thread.

Dav82nd is only the latest example of this.

Respectfully,

Dav82nd

I read your posts from the locked thread, and we will have to take this off line to the other forum. I have a right to an opinion, and you have heard it. While you might not agree, it doesnt mean I am against the moderators, it just means I agree with some of what the members are saying.

cgrdcs,
Even though any further discussion on this topic has been official banned - I still would like to know if this is an example of the "hate mail" referenced on the locked thread "Boards spammed again"? I hope not, seems like a reasonable email to me, unless disagreement equals hate (this is Point Counterpoint).

All I can say is our moderators don't abuse that function.

I just emailed ROB lodging a formal complaint against Dav82nd for disrespectful comments towards me and against Sekar for disrepecting the CG community.

Shipmates,

My earlier email to SEKAR was answered. In his answer, SEKAR advised that it was he that authorized the mass across the board posting by DAV82nd concerning War and Conflict forum. He did so in his position as CHIEF MODERATOR. He stated that the W&C forum was getting no hits, that he had received orders from higher to get hits. He stated since the Mass Posting, the hits had increased 500 %.

He then took issue with publicly going against a moderator. That issues like this should be handled offline and thru th"chane of command"
consisting of moderator, to lead moderator, to chief moderator, to forum Adminstrator. In his opinion failure to follow the chain was cause to bounce the complaint back the the level skipped,
SEKAR stated that public disputes with moderators, was similar to a senior being publicly challenged by a junior.

HE ALSO STATED THAT AS CHIEF MODERATOR HE IS PREPARED TO BANN ANYONE DISPUTING A MODERATOR FOR A PERIOD OF UP TO TWO WEEKS.

All in all, not a favorable response. Does not bode will for the future, IMHO.

Aviation God
While not stated, IMHO Sekar will defend his moderators in the name of disclpine / support for the chain of command regardless of facts.

Jack

Flynn, you'll have to go to the CGCVA site to ask that.

Sorry.

TO ALL:

I understand some might be put off by the across-the-boards advertisement to the War and Conflicts Boards.

I am a Veteran of the Cold War (Army), the Gulf War (CG), and the "Haitian Vacation" in '94 (CG).

The reason for the "spamming" is to let folks know about the new board. I have since posted on the above three boards.

I know the CG folks may not have participated in any of the above conflicts, and may resent the "spamming" of the CG boards for that reason.

Please keep an open mind and support the latest Mil.com discussion board.

If you weren't involved, just disregard it. That is your choice.

IMHO.

Jerry I have no right to post at CGCVA so I do not.

I like you am a cold war "veteran".

The Moderator did spam the boards. That was my original comment. Nothing to do with keeping an open mind.

There must be a better way. Perhaps targeting the "Information" to the general discussion board (this one) would make more sense.

Keep having fun

There seems to be a problem with the "chain of command". First, this is not a military board. Second, if there is a chain, then why aren't ranks listed so that we can be sure the appropriate respect is being shown? Finally, somewhere there must be some general or admiral who is in charge and they should be listed so that we can go up the chain and talk to them. Cool

"Last time I checked the Coast Guard was involved in all of our wars. So be at ease, there is no spamming. The postings were slated to removed a week after they went up."

I think these folks are missing the point. And you sure ain't gonna get your point across with a lame statement like that.

We are adults. I enjoy poking around the other forums. It has nothing to do with the topics. It's about being able to slide around any of the forums without wading through the same goofy SPAM. I could care less if it is about tanks, ships or fluffy kittens.

The issue that has been brought up a couple times is not the actual linking to the W&C forum, it is the fact that it is pushed into every thread, rather then a single post at the top of each forum. Maybe the system doesn't have the ability to only post automatically to the parent forum for each group. If that's the case, then fix that, don't threaten and bash those of us that find it annoying to see the same post in every thread in every forum.

I like to scroll through the threads looking for the most recent posts. I can't do that when every single one has the same post re: the W&C topic.

As a "Cold War" vet, as a Vietnam Vet, as an individual that spent a year in Iraq working as a civilian, I take umbrage at the insinuation that if we are not interested in the new W&C forum we are somehow less patriotic then we should be.

As far as a chain of command.......I ain't in one anymore......except for my wife of course.

I started frequenting Fred's Place long before the move to military.com. I see no improvement overall since the move.

Without all of us there IS no military.com. Perhaps the Lords and Masters have lost sight of that fact, as well as any understanding of the words "Customer Service".

Wray, Thanks for the list. Too many "bosses" and not enough "workers" to slightly change a phrase. Seems like everyone who is anyone can get their 2 cents in even though it probably isn't worth the money.Cool
