This seems to be a pretty good interview off a site I'm not affiliated with. Check it out. This message has been edited. Last edited by: militia1, |

So no links except for affiliated sites. How do we find out what site are affiliated? Is this rule going to be enforced or is this just a rule that will be used on a case by case basis? |

OK, I kinda sorta understand the TOS on this, but it seems to me there should be some exceptions. In this case it is an interview with a former MCPOCG. Absolutely absurd that such a link cannot be posted! It's not like military.com is going to lose any money over this!

They wouldn't lose any money off links to our videos on the Coast Guard Channel either or to Jimmy Z's videos since our videos don't seem to qualify (based on attempts at submissions before) in the Shock & Awe category and there's not much in that category that is Coast Guard.
I think it's all silly since it really makes military.com stronger not weaker if they are viewed as THE place to go to find all things Coast Guard. Tam |

I thought it was OK to post a webste like URL EDIT as long as you weren't affliated with them?

No... it's not 'OK'.
Please stop. It's all fun and games until someone gets suspended. |

Rob,
My curiosity is up.. Do you have a regular job? If so, may I ask what it is? I see you are, or have been, at some level involved with law enforcement. May I ask what it was? Wray... |

TAMCOM,
I want to thank you and your staff for everything the Coast Guard Channel has done for the Coast Guard and for me personally. CGClips.com took up a good amount of my time. The Coast Guard Channel took over what I was trying to do, leaving me time to work on other things. Not only did you take over, you did it in a very stylish, professional, appropriate manner (I don’t think it’s possible for me to be appropriate) To show how much I appreciate what you do I’ve placed your banner on all my pages (which still receive thousands of hits even though I haven’t updated it for over a year) hope this helps. Check out the banner on my site here: oh wait.. can't post links here. Well.. just click the link under my name. |

Guys, we are rapidly approaching the point where this is getting old and disruptive. You asked for an explanation, Rob explained it.
Lets move on. This is the second and probably last warning before these "website" threads get bushhogged. T |

Just curious as I have never heard the term before. What is "bushhogged"? |

Its a farm term. If you have never driven a tractor, its hard to picture, but its a super sized lawn mower. T |

Wray, I'm catching up with this thread now... Yes, I guess you can ask. I am an actively serving Law Enforcement Officer. Over the years I've been a road officer, worked Vice/Narc, CID Sex Crimes Investigator and instructor. That's my 'day job'... actually it's a rotating 12 hour shift. I think that you're the first person ever to ask... or ever cared to ask, that is. What about you? How do you fill your days during your retirement years? Some say that life does not really begin until retirement. Others say that there is no such thing as being retired? |

Rob,
When I retired I started working at the same college I attended here in DAytona Beach. I was the Supervisor for the traffic & parking services office. I had 5 or so officers that worked for me,ticketing students & staff. We also sold the parking decals for the college. I quit that job after 5 years to take care of my Mother. Didn't work at all for 4 or so years.. After I put my Mother in a Nursing home, I took a part time job with the Veterans Administration. They later changed it to a full time position, and that is where I am now... (in the supply dept). Other than that, I just take care of 2 houses, 1 swimming pool, 2 motorcycles, and 6 cars. I have some wonderful neighbors that like to socialize. We get together every weekend at someones house & pool for a "stress reliever" evening. I did have a part time job as a Captain on an 88 foot Booward. The owner wanted to sell it, so he hired a full time crew to take it south for a few months. Here is that boat: http://www.regencyyachts.com/main.asp?-vessel_basic_inf...s_id=41882&curr_id=7 In two years when I hit 62 I will be retired full time. I'm gonna get my social security check, in place of the VA check, and be done.. It is time for me to spend all this money I have been saving & investing. As the saying goes, you cant take it with you. I don't see any point in leaving a mountain of money or things for my kids to fight over. They will get a house (paid for) when I go. If they want to sell it and divide the $$ that willl be up to them.. I'll be on the Harley (or Corvette) in the sky... If I go the other way I want to take my Buick 'cause it has a great air conditioning system. Well that about sums it up.. other than that I'm in my pool, having a cocktail, or on the computer. Wray... |

I am not asking this question to be a wise butt, but it seems that I violate this rule often. When we discuss topics, we often insert a link to a site to provide proof. It might be FoxNews or ABC News or some other news site. We might link to Drudge or some other place. Look at the 9/11 conspiracy threads and there are links leading all over the place! Same goes with a lot of threads that become contentious Is this violating the rules, also? And if it is violating the rules, what do we do?
Oh, and Rob, thanks for serving the nation as a police officer. You are one of the ones that run toward trouble while the ones that do not appreciate you run away! |

TJ, I'm certainly no moderator, but I'd say if in doubt put it in.. the worst that can (or should) happen is it will be deleted.. Right Rob?
Just like the link I put in above.. it was just to show Rob the boat I was working on.. I doubt there are many here that would want to purchase it for a mere 3.2 million, or whatever the asking price is/was. Just remember the old adage... "it's easier to get forgivness than approval"... Wray... |
