I think you're talking abouta Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI). You can go to BoatUS, or the like, and you only need one for the boat. Your MMSI will cover DSC and AIS. http://www.boatus.com/mmsi/

Your local CG Station will not likely be aware of the procedure for getting a MIC Code. You would need to contact your closest CG Marine Safety Office. They will do the required facility inspection and get you set up as an approved manufacturer. There is also a contact person in CG Headquarters who is in charge of the MIC program. I had his contact info, but lost in Katrina. Hope this helps.

http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_database.htmPotential manufacturers, or importers, of recreational boats must contact the USCG, Office of Boating Safety, Recreational Boating Product Assurance Division at 202-372-1073 and request a Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC) form.

MMSI Numbers should not be requested from the civilian websites. They should be requested through official CG Channels. If you want to post your email address I can send you the information. If you are looking for the code to manufacture info that can be found on ELC's webpage.
