I heard about the comments Rush Limbaugh made on MSNBC tonight. He referred to military members who support troop withdraw from Iraq as "phony soldiers" in his Sept.26 radio show. How easy is it for him to sit in a nice air conditioned studio and talk crap all day long while our military members risk their lives in Iraq. How easy it is to shout pro-war idealouges when he never even served in the military. Not ony Rush Limbaugh, but people who've never served in general. It is very easy to sound the drums for war when your safely sitting on your couch thousands of miles away. I have never been to Iraq, but do have a lot of friends who have gone and they tell me that the things they have seen they could never forget, and that war changes you. I can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like over there. Just because you support bringing our troops home, dosen't make you any less patriotic. This guy is a freaking joke.
If you listen to the entire 3.5 minute monologue, as I was, he was referring to one young man who was proven to be a fraud and served 5 months in the brig for his falsification of military records and such. He was not making a blanket statement about all soldiers. whether you like him or not, you shouldn't judge until you have all the facts. Same goes for O'Reilly, like him or not, they tried to smear him the other day for comments he made that were cherry-picked from the whole story. Just thought you should know, MKCS
I live in the Seattle/Tacoma area and they played the full segment on the local morning show. IMO, he was trying to say something positive about the issue. The radio guys also played the CNN clip, and CNN only played they last about sentence and half of his whole segment. Hey, I'm not defending O'Reilly per say, he has caused himself enough trouble and controversy that I don't have any sympathy for him putting his foot in his mouth, but shaping and molding a news story to fit an agenda is wrong, whether it be FOX, MSNBC, The New York Times, the WSJ, or whatever. I'll admit I listen to these types of political shows from time to time but can really get turned off when they start going too far left or right.
I can't stand MSNBC Keith Olbermann going so far to the left. I may watch Hannity but he can get a little too far to the right.
Now Lou Dobbs....he's the man!
Some may not agree but I find both Anderson Cooper and Brian Williams to be pretty good at telling the news without letting their own politcal beliefs get in the way.
I think the transcript is on Rush's website, but I haven't personally checked. Also, I bet you could find it on Drudge. Media Matters may have it, although they were the ones he accused of starting the whole brouhaha in the first place. We had the Marine Corp chaplain impersonator up here in Tacoma who was recently convicted. He was at it for a long time, although he didn't appear to have a political purpose in mind. He actually came into our office several times and we all thought he was the real deal. Kinda weird. anyway, ENJOY!
Let’s see… MSNBC. The home of such ‘unbiased’ folks the likes of Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann … Come on. I’d like to hear the entire Rush quote in context so as to remove the left-wing spinning BS. I know Air Amerikkka sure had fun cutting and pasting his quotes today but never played the entire, uncut quote!
JGD, Bill’s entire quote is on his web site. Listen to it and you’ll see that the very biased media - which also just so happens to be Bill’s competition – are twisting the truth in order to shine Bill with a poor light. I heard Bill and I didn’t see the same message the lefties did. But then again, I listen with an open mind and try to hear the message… not make one up!
Just because you don’t like someone does not mean that you must fall for the lies said about them!
Ya, he ALWAYS has Bill as one of his silly ‘Worst Person of the Day’ segment. He also has Rush on that list often. And now that Glenn Beck is kicking his butt in the ratings, old Keith is making sure Glenn gets on the list often, too!
I tried to watch his show in the past to try to get the ‘other side’ of issues, but all he ever does is whine and attack those one the right. Unbiased, he is not!
from what i'm reading.....and looking at it in left and right blogs....it looks like # he doubted a callers claim that he had served (which he had no proof one way or the other) and then engaged another caller with what looks like "if they're in the military, they have to agree with the war" discussion...

...yeah and o'rielly used to host a hollywood tabloid show......
Well, at least MSNBC has Tucker Carlson to balance out Kieth Olbermann a bit. And then there's Chris Mathews. He used to be "of the left," but it's hard to tell anymore.

It’s hard to tell if Chris Matthews is left? If Matthews is not left then Rush is squarely in the center! Matthews, although I try to watch him, is a joke IF he is trying to be unbiased. He is very, very left! He is hard to watch but Olbermann is impossible! Olbermann is so far left that his views border on being bigoted.
O'Reilly interrupts the people on his show which is very rude He doesn't let the person say what they wsnt to say, he puts his spin on the subject. I threw a shoe at the TV the other night when he was on.......don't watch anymore because I'd sure as shootin' throw a frying pan the next time and break my TV

Hey, if you think he's left, then you probably think Hillary is too. Hell, she's so much of a corporate, DLC centrist, she's darn near a Republican.
The biggest problem with Olbermann's program is that it tries to be a little too cute and clever. Sometimes it works; most times not. Other than that, his heart, soul and politics seems to be progressive enough.
