Was informed this afternoon that the BATF is now hiring 13 Special Agents. They don't open the Special Agent books often, and this is the first time this year it has happened.
If your enlistment is wrapping up, they are looking for you. http://www.atf.gov/careers/opp...s/special-agents.htm T |

Grades 5 through 9? Sounds like a job for a younger pup just starting out.

the key is getting in the door. CBP started hiring officers at 5 or 7; the scale was 5/7/9/11; now it includes non-supervisory 12. Doing the math, someone hired as a GS7 in 2004 would be a GS9 one year later, the GS11 the following year. With the lastest change (GS12 non-supervisory), locality pay, and a 20% midnight shift differential, base pay for someone with less then 6 years can be $88.3K a year.
Getting in the door is the key; start at 7 or 9? Its a start... |

Don't forget LEAP, Law Enforcement Availability Pay, an extra 10% of base pay.

Actually, it is an extra 25% of base pay + locality pay. LEAP also counts towards retirement. |

Unfortunately at CBP we got 6C status without the LEAP - although we did get the enhanced retirement... |
