Seems to me they could've provided more examples of prohibited tattoos, other than from the ADL website.

Hate groups aren't from one race or culture.

I'm actually a fan of the tattoo wedding band. Not sure why they are allowing one on each hand, but I'm going to get my band replaced with ink.

I see two problems with a tattoo wedding ring:

1) What do you do if you get a divorce? Confused

2) How do you take it off when you are in a bar away from your homeport? Wink Big Grin

I'll answer...

1. I just had two tattoos removed by laser. Expensive, hurts like a b*tch, but well worth it. About $700 for one the size of a quarter on my ankle and another the size of a 1 inch square box on my wrist. They were lame tattoos I did myself when I was 16, and took about 6 months to fully remove.

2. I don't cheat on my wife, ever.

I don't get the whole tattoo thing though I am intrigued by this "tramp stamp" phenomenon.

I'm thinking any chick who will submit to that and then put it on public display is game for practically anything.

Tell me I'm wrong but please explain what's up with that? Clue this old goat in would you?

People that cover their body with tats are not using their head.. If they thought how stupid they will look when they are 60, 70 or 80 years old they may think twice about what they are doing.

I work at the VA here in Daytona. We have a lot of "bikers" in this town. Of course it is not just the bikers that are covered in tats. I have had several tell me if they could do it all over.. they wouldn't.

Wray... Cool

I find that a 70 year old with tattoos is far more interesting and has better stories than the typical 70 year old without them. I'm not sure why you find it neccesary to be so judgemental.

RVA - this is a discussion board, he has a right to his opinion and to be judgemental. He isn't right, but he also has a right to be wrong!

Took me about three days after the ALCOAST came out to get another tat that would likely be just past the 25% rule.

Judgemental? I think a more accurate term would be opinionated... and yes.. that is all this board is full of.. everyone's personal OPINIONS...

Get use to it or leave...

By the way, I don't believe I said anything about 70 year old people being interesting or telling "stories... I was referring mor to how they LOOK!

Wray..Cool
P.S. Once again, the above reflects my OPINION concerning YOUR post.

I have never understood why people would have pictures, that they would never be caught dead hanging in their living room, permanently placed on their body? I guess they do it to show their "individuality" but with so many people doing it it really just shows their conformity.

At 80 years old I'm not going to care what my ink looks like. I'll be happy that I made it into the bathroom without piddling my pants.

You are absolutly correct that he has a "right" to be judgemental. I never said he didn't. I apologize that I find it confusing that it makes people so happy to pass judgement on what makes someone else happy. Live and let live I guess.

A lot of people who have tatoos in todays time just get htem. When I was getting my bfirst one. The tatoo artist was telling me that people get them because they have a signifigant neaning to that person. That is why I have them. The art of tatooing has a history. Now it is for show. Like the tramp stamp. The older coastied who got tatoos had meaning. That bis how I look at it.

Mark - I can't argue with your point. Now, I would argue with your assumption that people wouldn't 'hang their tattoos' on their wall at home. I have four of them, one of them 3 days old that would have violated the 'old rules' due to size. I would be more than happy to have them recreated as paintings and hang them on my wall.

Probably because that 70 year old got them 50 years ago and was in the military. 50 years from now the 70 year olds with tattoos will just be people that got them "because everybody else had one". Best stories they will have is how drunk they got in college.

A lot of these "anti" tattoo statements are very generic about how the poster mentions the 'silly' decision of why people get them. I believe that MOST folks over the age of 30 (not all) get ink today because they've always wanted it but it was never "acceptable". Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I wasn't born in the 40's, 50's or 60's... although had I been, I would have wanted to get tattoos anyway regardless of what the opinion of others were about it.

I can say I've never gotten any of my tattoos drunk, nor have they been spur of the moment.

Like I said before at 70 or 80 years old I won't care what my tattoo looks like... I'll care more if I can chew and swallow my food or care more that I actually made it to the bathroom and not in my pantaloons.

Tattoos are just the same as drinking or smoking. Can you imagine what someone is going to look like when they are 70 or 80 and they've been drinking and smoking their entire life. They are all lifestyle choices. To each their own. Really if it doesn't affect YOU personally then why does anyone care?

Jekel-

I'm hardly anti tattoo since I have 5 of them. And a story to go with each one! Big Grin

At the ripe age of 67 I am rapidly closing in on that 70 year old window you mentioned. Still manage to chew my food OK though and haven't crapped my pants at all this week.... Razz

My only point, in response to the statement about people with tattoos having better stories, is that it may have been true at one time but with the plethora of people geting tatts I doubt it will remain true.

The one thing that astonishes me is the sheer size and volume of tattoos people are getting. I have to believe some folks, at some point in the future, will have "buyers remorse".

Oh, and my wife, at age 65, decided she wanted a tattoo.....so she has a small one on her ankle. Eek I'll be sure to let her know she is now wearing a "tramp stamp".... Big Grin
