I may have, alot of folks talk about the current policy as the old policy.

I agree with that. I had a member report to me from Boot Camp trying to tell me that the CC's in Cape May were informing them of the "New" policy that is rumored to have been changing. Not enforcing the "old" (current) policy.

Thats perfect! Lets give the recruits a bunch of rumors to show up at their first unit with so that they don't have a clue as to what is going on! Roll Eyes

Four years and a bit. Is that about the right ammount of time for a policy longevity ?? That's pretty good or pretty bad, eh ??
Change of watch approaching, time to set up the bases for the next administration ???

Well you see, I'm more worried about them hearing the "new" policy, and showing up to their units with out of regulation tattoos, all becuase their CC's told THEM it was ok.

Wray,

I'm pretty sure the CC's won't and don't do this. They may mention the possibility of an upcoming change....but we all know how grapevine info changes from person to person. As long as the recruits understand the current policy and know that it has not changed, they should be good to go.

The new policy, COMDTINST 1000.1B, is out today (ALCOAST 505/09) on CGMS. When it hits the Internet MSG BD, I'll post it here.

There is nothing in the CI stating that you need to route a chit, but it would be smart of you to run your ink plan past your command to cover your a$$ and make sure that you are adhering to the new CI.

I ask my crew to let me know what they are doing PRIOR to them doing it. I do this for THEM, not me...

Can't believe that they're letting people get rings tattooed on the fingers (one per hand).

The nice thing about a ring tattoo is that it won't weld itself to an electrical wire or de-glove your finger like a ring would when it gets caught on...

If you listen really hard, you can hear the buzz of tattoo guns all over the country starting up.

I'm actually a fan of the tattoo wedding band. Not sure why they are allowing one on each hand, but I'm going to get my band replaced with ink.

The most interesting thing is the policy on neck tattoos. The way I read it, tattos that are visible on the neck while wearing a ODU are fine as long as they don't show when wearing trops. Pretty crazy.

i might be wrong here but if you can see it in ODU you will be able to see it in Trops
