Liberty was good in Japan from then on. Beer
all nighter for 3600 yen in the fifties.

Exactly how was it a complete or unconditional surrender when the emperor was allowed to retain his throne where he should rightly have been tried for war crimes and hanged alongside Tojo and Yama****a.

It was a surrender yes, but it was not without conditions.

You are correct. But, it was a condition that, most likely, shortened the war by ten years and saved at least one-hundred-thousand allied soldiers and sailors lives.
