Hi everyone,

We’re currently in the planning phases for our next set of community releases and we’d like your feedback.

We know some of you would prefer profiles to be un-gated, and we’re currently evaluating different options to meet all types of users’ data access and privacy needs. In addition to ribbons and badges, what other profile fields would you like to be able to make public? Keep in mind; we won’t be able to make public any military information of members who are currently serving.

What new forum features would you like to see?

What other new community products/features would be useful to you?

An update on some current/future products/features:

Service/status/pay grade/rank attribution for non-serving members: The issue where non-serving members who select a service are being forced to choose a pay-grade is slated to be resolved in an upcoming release.

Buddy Finder/People Search: Search was recently updated to include MOS, age and email search. This month we will also be launching installation, civilian employer and school search fields.

Unit History: This feature will allow you to display the units you served in with associated time periods without having to join a unit page. You will be able to search on this data using Buddy Finder/People Search.

Ribbons and Badges: The ribbon and badge builders will be updated to display ribbons/badges in proper order and will allow devices to be added.

Thanks,
The Military.com Team

I would like to see a instant messenger or chat function added. Each service would get one, and folks can have a general conversation in addition to posting in the forum.

Let members link their profiles to social networking sites like Facebook or Myspace.

Allow members to upload pictures from their hard drive, and not just a internet photo site.

Some of my thoughts.

Make it so everyone has a profile to identify with. No hiders. If you got the guts to post have the guts to post a profile. Rank, rate ribbions. past duty stations all great.

Why? Or maybe more appropriately, what do you mean by 'military info?'

I would think Military Info of a named individual would include:

Service & Paygrade (public right to know info)
Current Duty Station (public right to know info)

I have thought this for a long time....

It would be nice to have, at the top of the discussion boards, a "FLASH TRAFFIC" or "BREAKING NEWS" board. Often, word is spread via the Boards faster than through "official" CG systems. NO, Im not saying create a gossip board full of "insider info". But Im saying to create a board SOLELY for high-profile breaking news. The posts already exist and continue to, but it would be nice if they had a proper board to themselves.

Major mishaps, fallen Coasties, very high level news stories, natural disasters, etc. are examples.

Traditionally, point/counterpoint has been the platform for such items, but has never really seemed appropriate, as there is often not a debate with such stories.

I second this motion! Many of us neither have nor want an Internet site for our pictures but would like to post some on the site.

Thanks for the site!

I agree, it would be nice to be able to pull pictures from your hard drive to put on here...

How about a "Crossed the Bar" area... ??

Thanks,
Wray...

And I third it!

Also, what about a mobile version that can easily be read and accessible (sp?) from a handheld device or cellphone? I have a couple of other forums that I visit and one recently created a mobile version. Makes it great to visit from the cell phone while I'm hunting (coincidence that it is a hunting forum too??).

I 2nd the motion (or 3rd or 4th it) to make posting pics easier. Also, the motion more data shown on profile, i.e. past duty stations, etc. Is there any way to add a spell check so we don't have to ad (sp) to a post or go to online or offline dictionerys (sp) Big Grin
