I'm looking for a picture of a coastie wearing the old Tropical Blue Short uniform (light blue shirt, dark blue shorts, black socks, black shoes). I have never seen this worn but understand it was available to tropical commands.
No pictures, but, from the 1997 Uniform Regulations. The same make up as tropical blue long. The short pants of the same material as the blue trousers, to be cut no more that 2' above the knee. Black ribbed socks to go no lower that 1' below the knee.
The 2006 Uniform Regs still had an undress tropical blue with shorts on the books.
Don't have any pictures, but I think I remember seeing pictures of Coasties on some of the Loran stations back in the 70's wearing them...Would be fun to see the picture...Bet Mark Wood would know how to get one...
On one cutter I was on blue shorts were authorized underway with work uniform. YN put 'tropical blue short' for uniform of the day in the POD once, because he insisted that meant short sleeves (yeah, we all know he was wrong), and by explanation said that 'tropical blue long' meant trops, but with long sleeved shirt and tie (huh?). So I showed up for quarters in 'tropical blue short' as defined in the Uniform Regulations, with a copy of the POD in my pocket.
