Happy 217th birthday to the United States Coast Guard. Today we should remember those who served over the 217 yrs and those serving today on various patrols, SAR missions, Comms watches, wartime patrols, etc.
Thank you to all who are serving or have served. A special thanks to those who served during WW II, Korea, Vietnam, served or are serving over near Iraq.
Thank you to all who helped during Katrina and the many other storms.
Be proud of your service and the sacrifices you and your families are making or have made.
Semper Paratus!

In 1999 a friend gave me a Coast Guard doll. Foolishly I mounted it in the back window, when I got back after 3500 miles it had been rotted by the sun I still have it but it's in a drawer HAPPY BIRTHDAY COAST GUARD.

And to our shipmates departed but still on patrol, or SAR you are always in our hearts and memories.
Happy Birthday to the most deserving military, humanitarian and law enforcement outfit in the U. S. and I ought to know, having one way or another served in all of them.
