I'm 65, working full time and have no plans to retire from my second career any time soon. Although it won't hurt me, I think this proposal is grossly unfair to those who will be affected by it. That said, see my comments under the topic of Defense Budget Faces Cuts To Personnel After Decade Of War. British author Rudyard Kipling was spot on and he wasn't even talking about the United States Congress.
It is a slippery slope…what is to say a budget deal says no COLA, or the reduced COLA applies until an uncertain increasing "Working age". We preach financial planning to Coasties but that is tough to do when the rules drastically change. When the Congress changes the rules, does that allow a 10 year E-6 to say, p**s on my obligated service, our contract is void and I am out of here. Also interesting that this only affected "working age" military retirees. This is a targeted tax at a group that is virtually unrepresented by currently serving Nationally elected officials and even the American public at large. Standby for what is going to happen to Tri-Care. r/LOB
McCain is just another politician. He stayed a pow for his own benefit. Hero? Not imo. Not even close.
Nice diatribe. Now, cite your proof.
It was to the North Vietnamese's political agenda to release the grandson of the Admiral who lead the Naval Forces in Vietnam. They may have thought that grand dad's prosecution of the war was due to them holding the grandson prisoner.
McCain, the POW, didn't stay for political reasons, as stated by him previously. Do you think Admiral McCain would have prosecuted the war differently if the North released his grandson? That would be a serious breach of leadership that would cause the Admiral to lose the respect of every sailor in theater.
Requiring carriers to obtain proof of income eligibility from new subscribers. These changes took effect in June and were first reflected in August disbursements, which dropped by nearly $40 million in one month.
Clarifying that Lifeline subscriptions are limited to one per household, and scrubbing subscriber roles of duplicates. The FCC has reviewed over 12 million subscriber records and eliminated 1.1 million duplicate subscriptions, which will result in $128 million in annualized savings. The process of examining subscriber rolls state-by-state continues as the FCC develops a comprehensive database that will automatically check for duplicate subscriptions.
Two clear examples of fraud and abuse. Guess who was paying the 168 million dollars till they "discovered" the fraud and abuse?
Un-real!! Taking from those who give the most, yet sacrifice nothing themselves. How do these people sleep at night?? We vets have served our country for 20+ years, when will those in congress start serving it?
Fng. Imo opinion he stayed for his own benefit. Joe disagrees. Since neither of us can prove either way it's a stalemate. I would never believe anything McCain said. But u keep voting for him and he'll keep taking away your benefits.
