Post number 400. Supreme Court denies a review of DADT. The White House states it will NOT stop DADT discharges.

Been watching the news & the boards on this subject and am quit amazed that almost 100% of the folks still refer to this as a "pentagon policy."
It is not a 'policy.' It is THE LAW, passed by congress and signed by the president. Just google 10 U.S.C. 654 and you will see it. Neither the Pentagon nor the President can change this! Only Congress can, and of course, only with 'approval' of the President. |

I believe the President can issue an executive order limiting or stopping enforcement of DADT. The only problem with this is that his successor could just cancel that order, and reinstate DADT. For confirmation see: ...gjd |

I would suspect there would be a lot more problems that just that. The article you sighted lost me when they started talking about stop-loss, failing to mention that it is not involuntary! Every single person currently on AD has agreed to it on their enlistment papers.
BUT - that could be a whole 'nother thread! |

I was sure that Obama would institute a change in the policy regardless of law. JOE:
I believe the question of Christianity was toward Obama who was raised in the Muslim faith. As he (obama) dismantles the greatest economic engine for human achievement; it would follow that creating distractions for the men, and women of the finest military could also be an objective. Personally, I have served with men and women of the Coast Guard that I wouldn’t speak to in public. Not to say these people were incompetent, I just didn’t like their personality. Hell, I’m sure there are many that could not tolerate me for too long. It can be annoying to be constantly updated on personal activities by others as if they have to have confirmation and acceptance in every thing they do. In the military, I don’t want to see anyone wearing their hat sideways with their uniform slacked in the rear because that is the way THEY like it. There are many unspoken, and unknown sacrifices each military member makes to serve this nation. I think every person that wants to serve should be allowed if he/she is mentally and physically qualified. However, every person must adhere to proper conduct with no excuses about their status in life. If that is going to be a problem, the military isn’t the place for them anyway. |

Sorry bout the link....
I'd recommend the "Don't ask don't tell" video at Collegehumor. The video number is 1916961. Perception is not reality. |
