5 Sailors Rescued off Texas

This was a very well done story by the reporter of a recent CG rescue with a lot of really solid messages.

A few of the messages I found:

- Highly dedicated, trained, motivated flight crew.
- Excellent example of ORM in the heat of battle.
- Very good inclusion of boating safety messages, i.e. what to do in bad situations to improve your chances of rescue.

This is one of the more complete stories of this type I have read in a while and made it easy to imagine yourself (as uncomfortable is it is) sitting inside that HH-65. Thank god for the re-engining or this case could have had a different outcome.

My condolences to the family and friends of Roger Stone, apparently a hero who helped save the lives of some of these sailors.

BZ to the flight crew, OPCEN running the search, and the sailors in distress for keeping their wits about them. BZ to the reporter for taking the time and making the effort to get this story right!

Aw, now, "uncomfortable"? Cool Dude, my seat pivots 360 degrees and slides side-to-side! I can stretch out my legs whenever I need to and I have AC vents overhead. Not to mention that my three-hour-per-flight posterior rarely exceeds it's 150% rating!

Dave1960, As a cutterman, I have only gotten to be dead weight on an HH65, so I got the luxury of a 20-year old buttpad and knees in my face...not to mention I'm 6'3"

BTW...Please don't push the "test" button on the instrument panel when giving an inflight cockpit tour. In my experience, when you do that, the warning lights all come on, but they don't all go off Smile

The surviving safety officer Steven Conway is a retired Coast Guard Officer. I'm sure his knowledge helped the other survivors.
