Ok, I have heard that Ronone is permanently banned. Is that true? I read some post that were pretty pointed and there was some name calling or more correctly, Acronym Calling, that was pretty bad. However, I dont know if I think that permanent time out is the answer.

I love to debate, but i try to attack the issue and not the poster. Maybe before we write the word "you" we should consider whether we are posting to the topic issue or the other poster.

I cannot even count the number of mess deck discussions I have been in where a comment such as "If you weren't such a dumbsh$t you'd know you are wrong", or "If yer head wasn't stuffed up your fundamental orifice you might have a clue" were uttered. No one actually took much offense at such statements, but then that wasn't the kinder, gentler Coast Guard either.

Unfortunately, even with 11033 posts, your opinion means little.

Difference is, on the messdeck, these conversations were usually between two or three people who had a personal relation already built and it was face to face. On the internet, you are usually dealing with people whom you have never met in anything other than a chat room.

Then again, that was THE Coast Guard and this IS Military.com.

Your Mess Deck conversations were not governed by the TOS. This is.

Keep on having fun... Wink

Gasp! I am shocked and appalled. Is that a personal attack on a Retired Master Chief? And by another Chief no less. Are there any adults watching? This could be serious.

Thank you for Your Service.

Jerry,

As the first moderator to post on this thread, I'll ask you the fundamental question: Is Bill Wells permanetly banned?

After reading the "causus suspenderus" linked on another thread, it appears that the moderator entered the discussion, was reamed and utilized the TOS in his position as moderator to suspend ronone until Febuary 13.
Is this freudian, ie, Valentine's Eve? One ponders.

It was good to have seen the reason for this suspension, as I had thought it had to do with the ability to identify gay nerds or hoist cameras with remote pan and focus.

Silence in the mount!

As the 2nd moderator to post on this forum - yes Ronone has been permanently suspended from posting on Military.com forums. Why was he permanently banned? If you can't figure it out, I suggest you contact Ronone through his e-mail address on his profile and ask him. He was advised via e-mail from the forums administrator. If he choses to reply to your e-mail that is up to him. There are two sides to every story; if Military.com wants to publicly share their side it is their business; as it would be GMCM Wells, Ret. business to share with you in an e-mail.

There will not be a long protracted discussion or debate on the subject. There will be I am sure, many of you who will chant "Free Bill Wells" or gosh I miss him; some of the more vocal proponents have already done that; when someone repeatedly violates the terms of service despite warnings, suspensions of increasing duration, and still continues to violate the terms of service appropriate action will be taken. Military.com determined that appropriate action should be taken and it was.

If the moderators or administrators feel that discussions that question the decisions of Military.com with regard to the management and administration of these forums those threads will be closed and the posts in question will be removed.

Oh, I'm sure we broke SOME rule some of the times. If nothing else, telling a more senior person to remove their head from their arse could have resulted in someone getting booked.......if folks took things that literally back then.

I think us poor ole' GM's are just being picked on..... Wink Big Grin

OK, I am watching the left hand vs right hand.

Tuesday, Jan 16, 2007 11:08 hours, on another thread, Jerry G posted that Bill Wells was suspended til 2/13/2007.

On this thread, Mr. H, posted that Bill was suspended permanently.

Plain question. Which is it?

TOS or not... A permanent suspension is overkill.

If you don't like what Master Chief Wells writes, then don't read it (or reply).

Unfortunate that personal differences preclude someone with tons of "corporate knowledge" from posting in a forum. It is surprising what you can learn when you are willing to listen (even if you don't agree).

Express your freedom of choice... don't read or respond if you are offended.
