The best part, this being a local story here, in Palm Beach county, he was returned by Child Protective Services, to the Grandmother.

his comment, when asked if he understood that people could have been hurt was, "I don't care."

A real beauty. He will be in jail by the time he's 18 and will spend most of his life there. It would appear no one has instilled any values in this kids head.

I don't even know what to say! I think I would go to jail, but I would whip his @$$ insane, then stick my shoe so far us his @$$, that his breath would definitely smell like shoe polish. Then, fine, take me to jail for child abuse.

Blanket Party delivered by GOD at 2AM in the morning. "Sorry son I didn't hear a thing last night are you sure someone came and knocked the snott out of you for taking Grannies car"?

Might have to send the "fat man" to lean on this kid to straighten him out.

By the way, there is a lot more on this story than we think. Perhaps it is because of how well covered the news are that we hear about all this. But when I was a kid, I never heard of things like this one. I would have not dare to take my grandfather's car or my dad's car., and that was because the beating would have been beyond comprehension. But in this story, listen to what grandma says about whipping the boy. I guess the so call prevention of child abuse nowadays is what allows for things like that. This 10-year old "thing" felt that a week w/o his video game would be enough punishment!!!

Of course I wouldn't spank this kid, but I would sit him down and explain the errors in his ways and wouldn't stop till he fully understood why and what he did was wrong and should never ever be done again.
Parenting is the ultimate test of ones patience.
I hope this kids parents as well as the kid survive the test.

7 and not 10, and asm3driscoll wants to practice good parenting. I guess I can rest my case then.

My great grandson is 4 going on 15. His dad takes his toys away as punishment. His mom spanks his bottom. Either one, he's in deep doo doo.

With only a few seconds of info gleaned from the news story, I would opine that the child is a budding sociopath who is already well on his way towards a life of tragedy. A sociopath doesn't accept that others feel pain, or that their pain is important. When they make decisions they don't take into account the welfare of others. They CAN learn social rules to follow so that their condition is not a problem. But is anybody going to teach this kid before it is too late and more than just property damage occurs next time. Scary stuff.... Whisper

classic example of what more and more of this country is going too... honestly I'm not surprised and thought it was funny... although defintely agree on a serious side of punishment instead of it being a comedy show Roll Eyes

Absolutely. No respect, no responsibility. I'm glad I'm not going to bring up any children with how the world and US is going into the 5hitter

Incredible, diagnoses from a news report. Sociopath at 7? Possibly but not likely. Wall to wall counseling? Sure, however beating the snot out of this kid will only harden his resolve. This is a situation where doing what sounds good may be the wrong thing.

Now, if he were 14 or so then you might have an argument for all of those things. However, hitting someone rarely brings about the desired results in the long run, merely compliance for the time being. Thereafter, sleep with one eye open for if this child is truly a sociopath you may wake up dead one morning.

As far I am concerned...that boy would be living an Amish lifestyle if I had my way...a whole weekend without videogames? try the rest of your life.

I kid you not, he would be 18 and would personally BUY his own PS6 or whatever comes out here in another 11 years...that would be the BEGINNING of a LONG life...before he BUYS that PS6 he'd also pay me for ONE of those cars...hey I am not making him pay for ALL of the damage...just one of the vehicles...he won't have time for the rest of that fun stuff...

he said he liked to do bad things...THIS is reflective of his parents and probably Grand theft auto among other things...

I don't care what race you are...stupidity does NOT discriminate!

apathy should be a crime...in that situation...and he should be in juvy...this is why I liked "scared straight"..because kids think jail is some idiotic sense of status...you aren't someone until you are in the same jail as Snoop Dogg or Lil Kim...dammit...it IS actually pretty easy to NOT break a law...
