Stormer, most of us on these boards got that same punishment and then never did that crap again. You give out that punishment these days where anyone can see you and your going to have a visit from child services. We can all thank those that feel they can raise MY children better than I can for that one.
Grandma on this one should have gone ahead and spanked the brat for a while and taken the trip to jail. When the judge asked her why she did it she could just point out the interview, with pictures, that he did and more than likely the judge would dismiss the charges. Of course he might have been spanked one to many times as a kid so he might put her in jail because of it.
Like most things though I could be wrong. I have been before and am sure that I will be again. Have a nice day all.

Sounded like the officer was trying that... "do you realize your grandmother will have to pay for the damage...can my mother help?" sigh. I am thinking that nailing one foot to the floor might work. --M

"going to talk and cause suspicion..."

The sad part is I don't see this kid surviving his childhood!

The law says 'can't beat the kid with a belt, can't beat the kid with a baseball bat. BUT you can lower his or her's pants and use your hand to spank them and to get their attention.' I got it on my bare butt a few times and I paid attention after that.

As far as California law is concerned, there is nothing prohibiting use of a belt. As long as there is no major bruising, open wounds, or broken bones, and the punishment fits the infraction, I tell parents to use whatever they want. CPS cannot remove children from a home without a WIC 300 hold placed by a police officer. And they will not get one from me for discipline I think is righteous. Especially when the dumb-schlit kids pull the "I'm gonna call CPS if you lay a hand on me" crap. I tell the parents I can come back later if they need help holding the child down while they give them what's coming to them.
