I was notified late last night of the passing of Capt Bob Williams, USCG Ret, he passed away on Aug 21, 2009. He was the best CO I have ever had the honor to work for, I always enjoyed his weekly inspections of my armory, and our conversation each year at the Annual Honor Guard Ball. Like I, he was a 327 sailor, if I remember correctly he also served aboard a cutter in Vietnam during the war, he had a long and distinghished career. I have been informed that the viewing and funeral will take place later this week in MD. I will post additional info as it becomes available.
Is this the same Capt. Robert E. Williams that as a LTJG was CO of Pt.Welcome, Pt. Dume, and Pt.Orient, during Market Time Patrols?
