I've been checking out AF and already contacted a recruiter. The only thing that was keeping me away from going further was just some financial obligations that I needed to take care of.

While in the process of doing so, I've also been contacted by a USMC recruiter. My bf is in a Marine and I've been curious about the branch as well so I decided to check it out. I told the recruiter that I've been checking out AF and may or may not pursue the military. He indicated to me that he didn't want me to miss the opportunity of going to the military if that's something that I decided to do instead. He said that it would be a really wise idea to just take care of all of the paperwork now so at least I can get the MOS that I want, etc. He said that I can always just say that I don't want to go if I decided to pursue other ambitions. After speaking with others that have gone through MEPS already during our pool function, some mentioned that they sworn in to be part of DEP. This got me really nervous because based from knowledge, this means that I'm obligated to be in that branch and the military. On the otherhand, I still have yet to let go of the possibility of being in AF. For the USMC, I've taken the ASVAB and going through MEPS. I have yet to swear in.

My questions would be - should I enter the Marine DEP? Would I be able to switch to AF if I decided that it would be a better route for me? My AF recruiter indicated that once I'm in DEP, I'm obligated to be in that branch. Is that the case? How can this hinder if the possiblity of switching to another branch comes around?

Oh yes - I also did tell my AF recruiter that I'm checking out the Marines. Wanted to be upfront with everyone.
