Basic Training
Posted
I was wondering if there are any loopholes or any chance that I could get into the Army National Guard or reg. Army? I would be happy to do basic training to learn the Army ways and prove myself. It would be an honor to get a second chance to serve my country, whether it would involve duties needed in the U.S. or deployment to Iraq. At 17 I signed my Active Duty Air Force enlistment contract in 1995. I had lived a pretty sheltered life, up until then, not been out in the world, and very immature. Due to some medical issues, I was honorably discharged 24 March 1997. On my DD Form 214, the separation code is JFL and Reentry Code is 2Q. Since then, I have accomplished a BA degree in Elementary Education and additional graduate hours, not to mention a lot of good work experience (including almost 4 years of teaching). I have become a very responsible and reputable person. Do I stand a chance at ever being able to join the military again or did I really mess things up?

Thank you for your time.

D.D.

You stand a good chance, depending on the medical discharge may or may not require a waiver to be determined.
