Thanks for the info. I contacted a few recruiters from this forum and one responded to a friend of his in my state that is also a recruiter and he says he is willing to do the work. I have my first in person meeting with him tomorrow. I will keep you all informed as to how it goes.
What state(s) are you guys in? I am currently in Texas now and have just finished my Masters degree but I've been told by the recruiter here that they do not process RE-4 waivers at all, that it is against the National Guard's regs.
I am in Michigan cwaltz75. I just had my initial recruiter meeting(paperwork, copies of personal papers, etc.) and everything went as I have been told. I was released from the navy with an RE-4 and an spd code of jfx. So I first have to go for a physical at meps and I will be disqualified. My recruiter will then have to send a waiver for a psychological type meeting and as long as I don't say the T.V. talks to me or any stupid stuff like that, everything will be a go. My recruiter just put an RE-4 through with a worse spd code than I have and he said everything will be ready for me to leave for training within 6 weeks. It would be sooner, but I have a few things I still have to take him. Marriage license, etc., that I have to mail off for. I will keep everyone informed of the progress and steps I am having to take.
NCARNG Recruiter here...all you can do is submit a waiver and see what happens. Everyone has it right that there are differences per each state, and the RE code isn't as important as the Narative Reason or SPD code. Email me at mark.r.weems@us.army.mil and I'll se what the NCARNG can do.
I'm in Missouri right now, a few weeks ago I went to Chicago MEPS did the physical and the new A.R.M.S test, passed perfectly... as my recruiter said "he got a picket fence". I guess that's good. my question is could any one give me a ball park guess on how long it would take to get a waiver back for a RE-4 JFW from 5 years ago. I was seen by 2 navy doc's at MEPS along with 3 civilian docs all said my back is good to go and my injury is not a problem. I also wrote a letter stating why I want in and how bad; along with what I did to get my back ... back into shape and strong again.
I just completed my Navy Re-4 NGB Waiver, and it took about 3 months. But it was approved, Now I'am in the Georgia National Guard, if anyone needs help with this process let me know and I can help you get on your way!!

What is the narrative reason? Current reg doesn't have KGF for a SPD Code.
On my DD214 , in the bottom section staes type of separation ,Discharge. character of service, Honorable. separation authority, AR635-200,Para 16-5b. Separation Code KGF. Reenlistment Code RE 4. This information is what listed . If you can provide me with some assistance . it would be appreciated highly. Thanks for your concern,"The Shadow".
I was discharged from the Navy in 2001 and now wanting to join the Alabama National Guard, the problem is I have an RE-4 code and the recruiter that I found that actually gave me the time of day said he submitted a waiver for me, this was the first if Dec. 2005, I haven't heard much from him since. Is rejoining a possibility for me or Should I give this up or is there something more that I can do or what?...any advice would be great
Send me an email wth you phone number and I will get some information from you and I will see what I can do, since your in Alabama it would be easy to get you with the guys I worked with!!!
Guardguy, waivers take at least 1 month, i know becuase i've been waiting for mine to come back, mine was put in about 4 weeks ago. i've heared them taking up to 3 months... it all depends on why you/we got a RE-4. Oh an to any one reading this is it just me or is the navy stuck on giving EVERY ONE a RE-4?
I can get you waiver started with the information you have on your DD214, Send me an email with you number and I will give you a call and get more information!!
I tried 3 times to get an RE-4 waiver with the Alabama Army National Guard but the recruiters said it couldn't be done. My RE-4 was from the Army though.
I've submitted my request to the BCMR to get my RE & SPN codes changed but that can take up to a year but I got tired of being dicked around by recruiters (it wasn't just Alabama ones either, the same thing happened with recruiters in Texas & Ohio)...
