If you are going to raise your hand to go to Alaska as an SK1..... Where should you try to go based on experiences good and bad? Just thinking about the future is all, figured there are plenty of people on this board with tales to tell. Thanks in advance for the input

Every unit, no matter where it is located has good and bad stories. You have to make your own judgement once you get there. If you go underway OCONUS and you have a family it could be good money for you. The cost of living can be high depending on your life style

Can't say much about Alaska I have parked my butt here since I was a boot 3rd. I have left once and come back again for another 3 year tour. Kodiak is a wonderful place if you can handle being stuck on an island with great fish and curious bear...lol. I have not been to the other places but have heard nothing but great things about those units. I hope it helps.
