D'Oh! PRISM training was postponed until FY09, probably Oct or Nov. This gives anyone interested plenty of time to make arrangements. Class is free (and probably worth every penny of it).
PRISM is the new DHS procurement/contracting computer system, it is an IBM product that does not communicate with the Oracle based accounting system. It is currently being used by parts of DHS (including some USCG units), and also by NASA, where it does not communicate with their SAP based accounting system.
AAMS (Automated Acquisition Management System) is a Windows-based product from a third-party developer called Distributed Solutions Inc used by some DHS agencies. It talks to SAP and IBM but not Oracle (nothing communicates well with Oracle). It has a few limitations, but is easy to use and easy to learn and best of all it can be web-based so you don't need software installed in your computer and you can access it from anywhere (assuming you already have permissions for that URL to access).
The several computerized purchasing systems used throughout DHS will all be standardized with PRISM.
