I am possibly going to ELC Baltimore next year and wondering on areas to live. I would like to go north verses south. Would appreciate any suggestions on towns. Have been told about Harford and Cecil County. Any ideas on the commute? Thanks

ELC is spread out in a lot of areas, and where you work could affect where you live. Do you know which location you will be at?

I worked in the Ordnance Road building in Glen Burnie and lived in Arnold, sort of a suburb right before Annapolis.

Lucas,
Just had a couple jobs on the shopping list for SKC and just trying to get a heads up. I know one is ELC Customer Service. I really appreciate you replying.

Just thought I would chime in for a bit since I fill that billet. It is currently being utilized in the Materials Management Division vice Customer Service. It is not a bad job at all though. The other billet is with the inventory accuracy team. I am out of work today but feel free to look me up in global and I will answer any questions anyone might have.

First question might be where are you? The locations of the ELC are spread out over a large area.

Also he should know that just because you get orders to a billet does not mean you will go to that billet, as you working in MM instead of CS shows, and my orders said Curtis Bay and I was shanghaied to Ordnance Road.

Good question although there is one hitch. Next year we will be standing up the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC). On the start the billets will come from our existing structure. Even though I work at Hawkins Point road in BLDG 88 that may change.
I would say it is a great time to come here. We may be a bit shorthanded at the start but there will be many opportunities for good leaders to stand out. This command is big into mentoring and developing chiefs and subordinates.

I just received orders to one of the SFLC billets. Never been to Baltimore and I am a little in the dark on what my job and duties will be. If anyone can shed some light on it, that would great.
