I am going to guess late September or early October. I look for the cuts go be really low this year, especially for SKC, Probably sixteen.

I heard advancements will be plenty, mainly because of the new BMI/Weight standards, especially for SKC.

That may ring true in late 10 early 11 but will have little effect on the 09 cuts. Read the requirements and the required probationary period we allow for the member to get in compliance with the standards. I predict there will be a lot of chubby former Coasties entering the civillian workforce over the next few years if these standards are actually enforced. Cool

From what I hear there will be alot of retirements in the next couple of years, specifically in 2010 and 2011 form the new standards. Even though there is a probationary period, alot of members don't even want to try to lose the weight, due to whatever factors. The may 2009 SWE and cuts are for 2010 advancements, hence the advancements are from JAN 1, 2010 - DEC 16, 2010. It's based on CWO promotions, retirements and now modernization as well for 2010.

Does anyone have any inside info about cuts? I'm hearing anywhere from August to November. Basically, the ME rate is holding everything up, but we are not affected by the new ME rate and laterals, especially E7 and above. The only laterals I can see from the SK side is E6 and below, and even still It won't be much I would imagine. I've heard that when the cuts do come out, it will zero or low, which wouldn't make sense for the SK side. What do you guys think?

It could make sense, considering the Coast Guard's retention rate right now. Hardly anyone is getting out or retiring due to the economy of the outside world. It might really slow things down for a while. Glad that I'm already in. There are tons of people trying to be where we are at right now.

from what I understand the new BMI/weight standards and Congress wanting to expand the CG another 8000 to 10000, tells me that if the cuts are low, when the first revision comes out there will be alot people getting promoted in all rates

How is this wishful thinking. It's a fact, the CG has to expand to fill it's demand from the DEP of Homeland Security. It's no secret that the new weight standards will affect thousands of Coasties too. These are facts, you can't dispute these.
