Good Morning,
I am a SK striker I took the first test and only failed it by two questions, so I studied every waken moment and the second time I bombed it! Can anyone give me advice on what to study for the third one? I studied all the wrong things for the second one and now I'm lost.

unfortunately the sk3 test covers so much that a dedicated study strategy is not going to be all that effective. you have to know enough about all of it to get the 76 or more.

The one thing that you have to realize that every test focuses on a different category so until you have taken every edition of the test you wont have your answer. just about every striker that i have had averages 3 to 4 attempts at the test.

Do not get discouraged keep at it, keep the mind working and it will come to you. i myself hit it 4 times before i got it.

if you come back from the EOCT and document as many questions as you can in you couse material or on paper or word, whatever works for you, the better chance of retention.

I wish you the best of luck, and if you need anything feel free to hit me up in the global.

I agree with the last poster. I just took the SK3 EOCT for the second time this past drill weekend. This test ended up being A LOT different than the test I took previously. The same categories of questions will be asked, but the questions themselves vary greatly from test to test. SK3 covers a TON of material as compared to say SK2. SK3 is the basis for the rest of your career. Try to get as many points as you can on the SK "general knowledge" type questions. I noticed it can be very hit or miss on the real nitty-gritty ones. To me, I feel that some the of questions are a bit out there as far as really "need to know/memorization worthy" info., but the testers are allowed to ask on anything that's in the course books as well as the supporting material. What I did do that helped me from my first test to my second try, was to go through the course books and on a note pad, make a "Reading List" for myself. Everytime it mentions a manual/instruction, with a chapter/section, or whatever, write it down. Then re-organize your list, and read, and read, and re-read those specific chapter, sections. This extra reading above and beyond what appears in the course books will give you a bunch of info. that appears on the tests...As a Reservist working in the civillian inventory, purchasing, logistics field, already for some years, I can tell you that the SK related info. is directly related to the civ. business world, and that you'll do yourself a favor in the long run by learning it well and retaining while as a Coastie. If you were to someday leave the service or stay on as a Reservist, you'll have quite a bit of knowledge and experience to offer a civ. job. Good luck on your test!

Hey do not get discouraged, I just passed after failing the first three I finally passed the fourth time. the third test is comprised of all of the questions from the 1st and 2nd test, and mostly the first test. If you wrote down all of the questions you remembered from the last two tests you shouldn't have a problem. and if you fail this next one well then you get to take a test you have already seen. Study those manuals like the previous poster said.

I have taken the SK3 EOCT 3 times so far. I missed it by one question on the second version, so I was bummed. But now I have received some help on where to find the questions that weren't in the study guides, but in the Manuals. I have comprised a web site of all study materials I have made up for SK3 and SK2, so far. I will be taking the test again next week, if it ever comes in. My web page is welcome to any of you out there that need some help. Storekeeper Site Check it out. If it helps you out, GREAT!!! I'll add more to it as I get it. Good luck to you all. KAT Smile

Don't feel discouraged about EOCT's - I know it's a different world now but I ended up retaking the SKC EOCT 5 times to pass it back in the 60's. It still had Public Health Service Pay procedures in it! I ended up making CWO at 12 years and retired as CWO4 after 22. So hang in there

Don't worry I failed my SK3 test about 5 times before I passed it . It wasn't an easy test what put me over was learning the (PIIN) and Document Numbers in the SK3 course work if you don't already know those lines then learn them because those are probably what made the difference in you passing or failing because it did for me. 1 more thing learn how to put together a Narrative and Foratted message that also helped me pass my test the last time I took it. Good Luck!!!

Make sure you memorize document and (PIIN) numbers, Know how to put together a narrative and formatted message, and if you dont already know the MILSTRIP line by heart then learn it those things will probably put you over.

Thanks for the hook up on the study guides. I really appreciate it. Hopefully the 3rd time will be a charm.

I created a website for SK's. I had to take the test four times. You have to look in the manuals too, not just the course work. My website is:

SK Website

I am a reservist going active and I just recently passed my SK3 test. The second test is the hardest of all, so dont feel bad. I actually got a worse score the second time around to. There is also a good website to go to, it is called kmbrogden.googlepages.com/. If you cant find it just google SK3 study guide. It has hundreds and hundreds of questions. And alot of good resource material. As one person posted definetely know your document numbers and types as well as milstrip. Transportation always seemed to be a tough one on most of them. They are also going to throw some cmplus questions and other ones that have no right being in there but if we wrote the test we'd all pass. The best I can say is get on that website and get all the information out of it you can. And dont cram because you will forget everything and just get confused. If you know it you know it if you dont you dont. Relax and good luck.
