Hey, I am going to be traveling in the Munich/Augsburg area this summer w/ my family and want to see some of my old "stomping grounds" in Augsburg. Need some help on the names of the various kasernes, other than Sheridan, and possible street names or general intersections. haven't been since 1989 and not sure where things are now!! Also, any info on Fryar Circle appreciated. Thanks, MajKdaughter

Need to clarify.... I'm aware the bases are gone from early 90's, so my visual landmarks won't be there. Looking for street names to sort of find my way around.
Also, any gasthof (sp?) in the area? Thanks! Beer

Try Google Maps or Michelin maps online.

Here is a link to a map that will help-- http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=augsbu...041623,0.074844&z=14. The PX was on Burgermeister-Ackermann Strasse just east of 17 (Dayton Ring). The area north of Burgermeister-Ackermann, labeled Kriegshaber, was Reese Kaserne and some Centreville Housing. Just south was the rest of Centreville Housing and the elementary school. To the East was Sullivan Heights housing, and to the west was Cramerton housing. Further south, between Stadtberger Strasse and Leitershofer Strasse was Sheridan Kaserne, southwest of Sheridan was Fryar Circle housing, Elmer-Fryar-Ring off of Panzerstrasse near 17. Flak Kaserne was north west of Reese off of Neusaesser Strasse. Finally, Gablingen Kaserne was north of Augsburg (follow 17 north, turns into 2, I think). My wife and I just bought our plane tickets to go to Europe next May and we will also be going to Augsburg. I would love to hear your impression and any tips or advice after you return from your trip. My dad was stationed in Augsburg from '86-'89. I was only 12 when we left, but I have very fond memories. Have a great trip!

I am in contact with a current resident, we have been exchanging pictures. We lived in 710B from 1958-1961. Send me an e-mail and I'll check with her to see if she'd be interested in meeting with you.
