Hello! My husband has orders to Mildenhall and was told my daughter and I would need passports, okay so I thought I was ahead of the game because we got those months ago. Lo and behold we find out a month before we are supposed to leave that we need "no-fee" passports. Okay great. So I applied for those and apparently they take 4-6 weeks. Wonderful. So my questions are; if you can expedite a regular passport, why cant you expidite a no fee passport? Has anyone here gotten their's quicker? And I was told by the fella that does the passports on base that when those do come in, I will have to send them off to L.A. to have the visas put in which will take ANOTHER two weeks. Is this true? According to the British Consulate website, I could do it in Houston. Also, could I just have the visa put into my tourist passport or does it have to go in the no fee one? And finally, does anyone know if there's any possible way to hurry this process along? Im desperate to get this done and Im completely stressed out about it, so any help would be really appreciated!

The passport agent on base might be able to expedite the passport process, but I don't know what the rules for that are. There is only one State Department office that handles all Official passports.
Yes, after the passport comes back you will have to sign it, fill out the visa application on-line with payment, then bring the receipt (or whatever they call it) to the passport agent who will send it off with the passport for the visa. There are three places in the US that can process the visas, which one it gets sent to depends on which state you are in, you cannot pick and choose which one to send it to.
No, the rules state that the visa is not to be put into a tourist passport.
The timing on this all depends on supply and demand, sometimes it goes quickly and sometime it can take awhile.
You don't want to come here right now anyway, our weather is kind of miserable right now. Enjoy the warmer weather in Texas while you can.
