Update: Turns out he used state (tax payer) money to pay for his affair. So much for his being a Pol who protects the tax payer.

Sanford on Thursday did say he'd pay back an undisclosed amount for the nine-day trip to Brazil and Argentina for which taxpayers paid $12,000 last year. That includes $8,687 for Sanford's plane ticket, and $453 in lodging.

As far as I am aware, Media Matters does not alter the audio tapes they post to their web-site - and the recording of gutless, yellow coward draft-dodger Limpbutt found on the Media Matters website is his own un-alterd words, broadcast during his own radio show.

But to the ditto heads that is the problem with Media Matters they did not twist it to support Saint Rush. No one is allowed to hold Saint Rush accountable for his actual words or actions.

Ray's was more appropriate, but should have been spelled "un-alturd" since it was related to Rush Limbaugh. The man is raving. Could it be the long term effects of off-market Viagra and hillbilly heroin?

... Sanford, who also admitted meeting his lover more times than he had previously claimed, told The Associated Press in emotional interviews that he "crossed lines" with a handful of other women during 20 years of marriage.

But he said he never went as far as he did with Maria Belen Chapur, the woman at the center of the scandal that has derailed his once-promising political future.

Even with the latest revelations, Sanford maintains he is fit to govern and has no plans to resign. And he insisted his relationship with Chapur, whom he met at an open air dance spot in Uruguay eight years ago, was more than just sex.

"This was a whole lot more than a simple affair, this was a love story," Sanford said. "A forbidden one, a tragic one, but a love story at the end of the day."

During more than three hours of interviews over two days at his Statehouse office, Sanford said he is trying to fall back in love with his wife even as he grapples with his deep feelings for Chapur...

Are you ***in kidding me? Is this piece of **** for real?

Could Spitzer have left this much room in the bottom of the pit?

I think Sanford should be gone, that said, SPITZER is trying to say what he did wasn't as bad as what Sanford did because he didn't get emotionally attached Roll Eyes What a moron.

He has a lot of good qualities and he made a mistake...weither in public or private he has to deal with it and his family. The outcome is not good but if the family stays together he has won and not lost...even if he loses his job. I wonder how this will affect his AF career?

My Dad went through the same thing a long time ago. I was really angry at him at the time. The truth is I'm just like him except I have managed not to step into that trap up to now. When you get off track and fall in love with a coworker or someone in Church it becomes a slippery slope for what to do next. Not everyone will come to their senses and run from it. I'm glad at least Mark Sanford has apologized and expressed regret. It will take him a long time to recover. It will take his wife and sons even longer. He has difficult choices to make. It appears that he is at least driven to tell the truth and try to make things right. It seems like we all get a chance to disappoint people we care for.
