I don't know if you can just blame it on race. Look how they screwed up Tilman. there have been a number of other cases where females were assaulted and the DOD just covered it up or tried to and most of these female Soldiers were White.

It's still that good ol' boy network in effect. It's similiar to that old Air Force policy of "blame the dead guy". A lot of "pilot error, case closed" was not pilot error at all but it conveniently covers azz.

I hope they finally find the SOB's responsible and they get what's coming to them.

I heard about this case a while back. God bless the family, and her, hopefully there will be some resolution. Maybe it is not a racial thing, and just the service closing ranks to protect itself for now.............maybe it was just a suicide too, who knows.........

Evidence doesn't seem to indicate suicide.

I understand what you are getting at, but I am saying maybe they are just "feinting" case closed, but are actually still digging.......
by the way, the first girl, lived about five miles from my home........
in theatre is always harder when war is going on...........than stateside..........
I served over 30 years ago and am still trying to get "witness statements"........

This case smells and smells bad. The Army is hiding something here or if this is the best they can do as far as investigating this case goes then the FBI needs to do it for them.

Was the I.G. asked to innvesigate this prior to going public? The CID? If no, why not? If yes, where are the reports? Are they credible to the average greiving parent?

For reasons that completely escape me, suicide by service persons is not uncommon. Suicide by issue rifle is one that has been going on for a very long time. This report is long on words but short on anything resembling adequate information for any conclusion, except thay a young lady is unnecessarily dead.

I tend to think the same Thud. Those doing and those over the investigation should be looked at real hard, IMHO. Someone is covering this up, but I doubt very seriously it has anything to do with her race. It looks more like you say, the "good ol boy" network at play.

Being you brought up Pat Tillman and how they had it all screwed up shows the "good ol boy" network in action. I feel this is just another case of it. See my post above for how I feel about it.

Well something needs to be done. Just from the link that Sam posted, brought up many unanswered questions. Broken nose, dislocated shoulder/elbow, trail of blood and the fact someone tried burning the scene leaves a lot of red flags.

I guess the Army would have the girls family believe that her broken nose, dislocated shoulder, was done by herself, and of course she set the fire AFTER shooting herself in the head with the M-16 to cover up that she shot herself. Roll Eyes

Just because they haven't caught the killer(s) yet doesn't mean that the 'good old boy' network is alive and well.

I think the way it's been handled so far means it is.

Just a "what if", what if they are saying it is closed to allow for the guilty to let their guard down? I know, it more than likely is a long shot.

Most women don't shoot themselves. With her only being 5'1 sounds like it would have been an impossible maneuver w/ that weapon.

Hopefully somebody who has a concience will come forward.
