Well, sorry. I am one of those people that think there should be a US identification card program, or at least some form of official ID. Here in Texas, you must have your voter registration card or your drivers license... I would prefer it be the DL, photographic proof of you are who you say you are and residency requirements.

Of coure, I am sure that all of the educated and savvy consumers here do know that the Consumers Affairs people tell you that the best way to protect your credit cards is to write "See Photo ID" on the signature line of your credit cards to prevent fraud.

Disenfrancisement of voters is nothing more than a cry to leave the Demowhiner machines alone... How are local politicians supposed to deliver votes if they have to be legal?

That is absolute rubbish. Nuns have held driver's licenses for many, many decades. And NO, not every nun drives, but they DO know the rules.

No excuse for not having proper ID in the nunneries. They going to preach obeying the laws, they too have to live it.

Yup, yup, yup. When I was a supvr. at Hone Depot I routinely asked for ID regardless if the card was signed or not. No ID...no card charges....unless a manager signed their initials to the authorization.

Depending on the order, there certainly are nuns who had husbands. A young WWI widow, perhaps?

She should just drive herself down to the DMV, and get an ID.

Why not, she got herself to the voting station ...

Her husband probably fought in WWI, and there's a damn good chance also WWII, and you jokingly
Wasn't meant as a joke, libeals like you on the other hand .... throw away the most basic right we have.

Well if this NUN was married, and as you say her huband fought in those wars, it was to PESERVE the integrity of the vote. Not turn it into some free for all joke those of you political stripe want to make it ...

Thanks for showing the American people the true nature of Conservatism.

You have a problem with ensuring only those people LEGALLY able to do so vote??? OH wait laws you don't like, don't apply, right???

I would think that if "SOMEONE" REEEEEEALY was so concerned about VD (Voter Disenfranchisement) they'd be raising the roof about all the poor Democrat voters in Michigan and Florida.

It's nothing but "voter suppression", but that is expected. Conservative know that the only way they have a snowballs chance in hell of achieving and staying in power is IF LESS PEOPLE VOTE.

Or it's a convenient excuse for whiny litle liberals to explain why they have had thier azzes handed to the for the past 20 years ...

MOST does not mean ALL... or does it????

From SWs link:

The newly married are going to SOL in voting. Perhaps no woman should get married in the 90 days before any election???? Hey, you can have a choice... be married or do you civic duty. So no one is forcing them are they? LOL!

Those in college that are not in-state. Perhaps only affects 50,000 to 100,000 or so, so should not be too big of a drag... right? Those folks should be able to get a State DL or ID right? Fact is they should be made to as well... right?

Well, most states issue you your first DL when you are 16 and they are valid until you are 20. Most states also EXCLUDE the Military and out-of-state students from the requirement of transferring their DL (Cali has 10 days to change tags and DL if you become a permanent resident)to the state they are attending school in. Anyway, Students don't have national IDs and most do not have the correct state issued IDs. In most states you cannot by law or statute have an out-of-state ID or license and obtain the residing state's license or ID card. California again is one such state... so is Kansas. So students and the military (? May not, Fed ID) should be made to fork over hundreds of dollars several times in a few years time… for the “RIGHT” to cast a ballot???? Does this make real sense????

So now we have MOST out of state students, the elderly, and newly wedded women that have the potential for disenfranchisement because it is not easy for them to comply with this type of law.

But this a good thing right? Besides… it’s only the Democrats that would be affected right???

IMHO: The election law needs some work done on it. Or, each state can rewrite its entire set of rules regarding who gets DLs and state ID cards. Wonder which one would be simpler?

One newly married woman said she was told she couldn't vote because her driver's license name didn't match the one on her voter registration record, said Myrna Perez of the Brennan Center Justice at New York University's law school, coordinator of the 1-866-OUR-VOTE hot line. Another woman said she was turned away from casting her first-ever ballot because she had only a college-issued ID card and an out-of-state driver's license, Perez said.

does not sound like she is a state resident, she should have voted in her state of residency
Federal Law does not currently require this... Just as it does not require Service Members to vote in their state of legal residency.

Umm, read article then post. The 98 year old gal was a NUN. They don't have husbands, ones that fought in WWI. WWII or otherwise.

SW even put NUN's in the Header of the Post, so maybe you should POSt about the topic.
Transport... females can become a NUN at any age... even at age 70. and another little hint... Men can become priests at any time... even at age 70.

And you know what... Men and Women alike do just that!

I have one friend that became a Catholic Priest at age 57 in 1983... Should he not have the right to vote or to have been married before becoming a Priest?

Here is a hint for you... I went to school with his son. LOL!

I love those who have to streatch in supporting a flawed argument

If you're from, say, New York, and you're attending UCLA, how the heck are you supposed to do that? Absentee ballot regulations can vary quite a bit, and students have been trying to get the process streamlined for years.
Yes, but this was a state primary. If she intends to reside in that state, she needs to get her drivers license updated to reflect he stat of residency. If she is going to remain a resident of her home state, she needs to file absentee.
Aren't College students exempted under both requirements? Is the voting exemption covered under federal guidelines?

What a ridiculous statement! How many nuns do you know that have/had husbands?
I personally knew a priest in that situation. Does that count?
