actually, I don't. I'm just old and remember a lot when it comes to music..... When I was growing up 3WS was the big band lawrence welk station -- for a while there I was a WYEP kinda guy, but me and lee ferraro had a falling out over artistic values about six years ago. I have older siblings who were bringing home all kinds of chuck brinkman, pork the tork and terry lee stuff -- yeah, the stones at Westview Park, James Brown at the Red Raven in Elizabeth, the Temptations at the twin coaches on 51 -- it was fertile back then. never got into the oldies revivals either, but always remembered the good old stuff. here's one for you -- Marshall Tucker, Black Oak Arkansas and Frampton's Camel in 72 at the Alpine Ice Arena in Wilkinsburg |

I'm surprized that no one brought these two up earlier: Scott MacKenzie: "San Francisco (Flowers in Your Hair)" Richard Harris: "Mac Arthur Park" |

Great song, sweety... unfortunately, the title of this thread is "one hit wonders". As a band, the Bee Gees had more hits than any other except the Beatles. |

I know I annoy you; what's yer point??![]() |
While I remember the bands, I was only 5 years old in 1972. I do remember the tail end of rock bands playing out at West View Park as a kid (late 70's) And like you, I seem to remember a lot when it comes to music. My uncle and father own a bar up in PGH. As a teen (uderage drinking) we would sit around on a Saturday afternoon and drink a few while listening to 3WS and a song would start playing and immediately someone would blurt out arist, title and year. We kept a running score. I do it now to my wife but she isn't amused. When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains, and the women come out to cut up what remains, jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains and go to your gawd like a soldier. -Rudyard Kipling |

Ahhhh, the "electric lunch" is cooking. I like the sounds of the summer of love. This was a big transition period for music as you can see with the selections provided here from 1965-1967.
enjoy Shirley Bassey, 1965 The Capitols, 1966 The Swinging Medallions, 1966 A song that questioned the war in Vietnam? For what it's worth, Buffalo Springfield, 1967 The Lemon Pipers, Green Tambourine, 1967 Back tonight with some more... When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains, and the women come out to cut up what remains, jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains and go to your gawd like a soldier. -Rudyard Kipling |
