"Trust no one... and keep your laser handy!" |
The Jaggerz - "The Rapper" The Rapper reached # 2 on the US charts in 1970. The Jaggerz is the one hit wonder band of which Donnie Iris was a member. Putting Iris in rare league as a One Hit Wonder (if you use the definition "top 40") both as a member of a band and as a solo artist with Ah Leah at #29 on the charts. |

M - "Pop Musik"
I think Robin Scott was fairly talented, and probably even a little ahead of his time with this music style. Regardless, techno-pop is not a genre that has ever lent itself to a long illustrious career. It is a genre of hooks, as proven by Thomas Dolby's only hit... "She Blinded Me With Science" ... and another of my favorite techno-pop songs: Gary Numan - "Cars" |

One of my favorites from a while back, David & David, "Welcome to the Boomtown".
I'd love to be able to play that on my guitar. http://youtube.com/watch?v=u3spAwxSDEU&feature=related Don |

maybe the ultimate one-hitter was the Sweedish band the Rocketeens, who created the song "woo hoo" in 1959 and subsequently disappeared entirely. No one to pick up a royalty check!!
later it shows up by the "5 6 7 8's" on Kill Bill (I LOVE Quentin's taste in music), then as the Vonnage theme for "People do Stupid Things" and then as a soundtrack for GTA people doing maliscious things. No link, but now I'm jazzed to get a version of the original up on YouTube...... stay tuned. |

Barry Mann, that was his only hit? Thought he did more, but that was an amusing tune
www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSp3zqqpvMo Of course telstar was an eexcelent instrumental... www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOIIaGoGqHY tho a little hard edged, here it has the edge taken off, www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENFz2gVItjc of course the Ventures did a cover, feel free to you tube that one yourselves. The original, you know, was all AM music, and the edge was lost somewhat on that medium... |
