"Bowlers have BIG balls!"

This should be interesting. I hope they have some live(ly) debates.

quote:
In an interview with NPR's David Welna that ran today former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., says he will run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken.

quote:
Ventura called Franken an opportunist and a carpetbagger. "He hasn't lived here in 30 years, and he's only coming back to Minnesota for the convenience of his own political agenda. Why didn't he run in the states he was living in? Clearly, for being a Harvard graduate, he's not too smart on taxes, is he? Everybody laughs, saying I came from wrestling. But at least I knew when I wrestled in 40 states, I had to pay taxes in those 40 states. You just have to do the paperwork. I find it unbelievable that someone who could go to Harvard didn't know that or let it slip. Blaming his accountant is worse, because now he's turning into a politician. He's not accepting responsibility for his actions."

I was wonderin who "Venture" was. I really hope Franken gets his azz whooped. I can't stand comedians who become politicians. S'already a joke without having to be quite as obvious.

You obviously did not see the movie. And all of the alterations were done with Clancy's full knowledge and approval.

Read the book saw the movie. As I understand it, the changes were reluctantly accepted by Clancy. I do wonder why they had to change the attacked city from Denver to Baltimore. And I'll agree it was shameless to kowtow to CAIR's demands but having read his books and knowing a bit about the guy himself he's make a damned decent representative (less politician).

As a Minnesotan and an Independent. Firstly, I'm in no way satisfied with Norm Coleman......an under achiever.......but running against Al Franken.....he has my vote....."the lesser of two weavils!"

Jessie Ventura was a joke as Governor........but he really accomplished very little. On the good side tho....he wasn't an over spender either. If you listen to the guy spout for a few minutes.....he sounds idiotic. He would not be a good choice to represent Minnesota in the Senate. Or to represent America on a Senate committee.

Besides he lied about being in VietNam!

If enough people vote for Jessie Ventura.....we could possibly end up with Al Franken and that wouldn't be too cool.

Pray for Minnesota!

Ventura served with Underwater Demolition Team 12 during his time on active duty. He later served reserve service as a member of SEAL Team ONE. According to the United States Naval Special Warfare Command policy, Ventura is entitled to use the title "SEAL", due to both his service in the UDT and SEAL teams, and his successful graduation from UDT-R (now BUD/S) training. He was awarded the National Defense Ribbon and the Vietnam Service Ribbon but was not in combat to qualify for the Combat Action Ribbon.

Franken has a reputation for losing his temper and threatening people with physical harm and even getting into people's faces and raising his hand to them. He has had security personal walk him out of building for losing his temper.

I can only hope that he does something like that with Ventura.

Funny...I remember him keeping his cool while O'Reilly was having a public meltdown and screaming at him. That's probably still on YouTube.

I've heard him say that he was never in combat. What's the big deal? He still earned the right to wear the trident.

I agree with him on a lot of issues, but that 9/11 conspiracy stuff does make it awfully difficult to take him seriously.

'Dunno where Ventura's comin' from on 9/11. Any UDT guy has to be familiar with explosives (as I am as an AO.) Those towers came down straight 'cause of the tremendous mass above the compromised structure, internal fires 'n the open platform internal construction. Anything else is silly.

He used to claim secret missions in VietNam.....when exposed....he toned it down.
