I'm just an American who has voted Republican and Democratic.

There are hundreds of thousands of conservative Democrats. It's not just a voting issue. It is a lifestyle issue.

quote:
...and they seem to believe that they are always right.
It's not a belief thing. It is a fact.
quote:
And, Conservatives don't smile very much as I've observed. They will sarcastically laugh, but I hardly ever see, a smile that reaches their eyes.
You just haven't been to the right Klan meeting. Big Grin Aw just joking. Maybe the people that you think are Conservatives are really Liberal since conservatives are happier, fitter and more productive. How do you know? Are you engaging them? Or just walking by staring, maybe glaring?

quote:
And in this season, I'm seeing what I stated a lot more though.
Don't worry Mighty. Come November you will know who are conservatives and who are liberals. The Conservatives will be smiling, again, and the liberals will be the ****ed off deranged people, again.
quote:
Hopefully sooner than later, we will all join together and from the heart shout out; GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL ITS PEOPLE!
Amen. And God Bless President McCain.

Now that could become a problem. It is a psychological ailment which I believe is considered "delusions of grandure". One of the things I find severely wrong with conservatives. Other than that, you guys are okay with me.

Shakespere termed in correctly when he wrote; "me thinks they doth protest to much".

I know, the "they" was supposed to be "she".

quote:
Or just walking by staring, maybe glaring?

Maybe at one time due to my background I didn't smile a lot at people. But my wife, who always smiles as she goes along, and greets everyone, has changed me.

At one time I thought she was to friendly. She speaks to almost everyone she passes, and sometimes they don't speak back, but it doesn't seem to bother her. She smiles and speaks to the next person we pass.

She has even changed my attitude about wanting to confront the idiot who didn't speak. Like she says, it's not about their attitude, its about ours.

So when you see us, you see two attractive, I think, people walking and smiling. Enjoying being alive and the life we're living.

Your wife sounds like a wonderful, amazing person. Your rendition of her actions here reminds me of another lady I once knew - always smiling, always with a bit of pep in her step, never a cross word to utter regarding anyone or anything. She'd greet anyone, and she used to say that if she strolled past 100 people and gave them a "good day" and 99 times she got scowled at, then the Lord gave her 99 chances to practice until she got it perfect for that one person that needed a smile for the day.

That's how she was: She was born hallmarked for optimism, it seemed, and she never fell short of the mark. You've heard the cliche' that her smile could light up a room? Hers really could.

Your wife sounds much like her. You're a very blessed man, sir.

It's not that there is no God or that He isn't listening. You're probably just asking the wrong questions.

Off Topic Still:

She is exactly like that and I exaggerate not a bit. Now when she is irked, she can be a piece of work. That's usually at me. Mad I have to be aware of her PMS moods though. But all in all, she just lights up everywhere she goes.

Question: I see that things are a lot tighter around here. There was a time when I know a few of us only posted in P/CP and the topics were all over the place and no one cared. Are we really going to be stringent in our postings now?

One more thing if I could. I noticed that threads disappear without warning. Could you guys at least tell us that a thread has been moved and to where? Us old heads are getting confused with the changes.

Thank you Buddy.

Well, please understand that I am a new moderator so this post CANNOT be taken as a complete evaluation or explanation. Those are best left to guys like Silent Surface or FighterPilotMafia, as their tenure as moderators here supersedes mine by a long shot, so they make the decisions and I wash the windows.

With that disclaimer, please know that I am the senior administrator at another site 30,000+ members strong, so it's not exactly like I'm learning a new game - more like breaking in a new glove.

I concur that threads that are moved need an allocation statement, as this board setup is a little different and makes subscriptions difficult to follow once action has been initiated that moves the thread's original spot.

The P/CP area (where I am assigned) is given a great deal of latitude. That is, P/CP will continue to have "heated" threads that would be closed if elsewhere in the forums.

Things are tighter for a variety of reasons that, to be honest, I am not qualified to speak of because of my relatively short time here as a member. However, as I was being considered for this position and discussing things with other moderators, I was told that P/CP was way too loose some time ago. The staff responded and the pendulum swung too far the other way, and P/CP became way too restrictive for what it was set up for.

What is wanted now is a balance. We want P/CP to be a place where debates are allowed to tilt to their full swing, but not completely devoid of moderation. The way I see it, as long as two adults are disagreeing AS adults, then no adult intercession is necessary.

But when people revert and regress to name calling, lies, accusations and libel, then we're going to have to step in and do the "tsk tsk" thing. We won't want to, but we have all given our word and we'll uphold that.

From what I have thus far gathered, the idea is a straight line down the middle approach: A little more moderation than other areas due to the required attention, a little less attention because people may have hurt feelings in the course of discourse. This isn't the "feel good" forum, but there are rules here that need to be upheld so that visitors are comfortable.

I can't speak for the rest of the staff, and even if I could I am too new to do so. But for me, I will use common sense and discernment. The way I see it, if I might be scared to explain my actions, they are the wrong actions.

Is that what you were asking?

FollowMeInfantry, you need to hang out a shingle or better yet put on your badge.

All you have is "Member".

Now how can anyone respect your authority since we can't even see your eyes.

Badge?

I get a badge?

Is that before or after I get keys to the company Yugo and use of the company blender every other week?

Relly, I don't know what you mean by "badge." You mean to edit "member" to moderator?

Oh, and if you hear anything about that company blender release, please do let me know. I'd kinda' like to whip up a few margaritas this weekend, if'n ya knows what I means!

The blender is on the counter but like all company appliances no one has cleaned it in 5 years.
