So I found out today that Marvel intends to translate their movies very close to the comics for a change. That's a great thing for us geeks. But who knew they had the entire Avengers thing planned all along even before the Iron Man movie came out?
I don't know how many were smart enough to stay for the end credits for the Nick Fury scene, but who noticed the Captain America shield in Tony Starks lab during the movie? Furthermore, Spoiler Alert!!!! At the end of the Hulk film they showed Tony Stark at the end talking about how they were forming a team. Well I don't know if you were paying attention, but they began throughout the movie setting the stage for the Captain America film. S.H.I.E.L.D Was mentioned throughout as well as the "super soldier" program and if you were paying attention, the college professor who injected Abomination with the green Hulk serum, also had a blue serum. That was the super soldier serum. Furthermore, I found out that they cut out a scene in the movie where Bruce Banner was supposed to try and kill himself in the North Pole, where he stumbled upon a frozen Capt America. The director said they took it out because it might be too disturbing for children, but plan to add it back in for the DVD. So Iron Man 2 is a go and so is Capt America followed by a Thor movie around the same time, all leading and tying together for an Avengers movie. Gotta love how they are leading us into this stuff. In other news: Looks like Two-face makes an appearance at the end of the new Batman film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has wrapped, The Punisher is out in December, and us comic geeks have a lot in store over the next couple of years. Oh for the horror geeks, Jason is back Friday 13th in February 2009! |

Nope, filming now, that's the actual release date! They are saying they are doing a kinda new Chainsaw Massacre take, basically, they are going to avoid most of the origin stuff and sort of combine elements from the first 3 films, i.e. the sack on the head and then choosing the mask, no crazy mother though and unfortunately, no Kane Hodder. Yes, I too am a horror geek, Saw V Oct 24th |

Ya, the Punisher and Tony Stark don't like each other very much, been waiting years for a follow up to the Punisher. I still can't figure why the Hulk film from 5 years ago didn't do very well, I don't like this new one very much.
I'm pleased as punch the DC's Batman has finally returned to his dark roots- thanks to Frank Miller's writing style, and Tim Burtons direction the first 2 films were pretty good, then they tanked the character again with the follow-ups like the 60 series did to them. Christian Bale does a great job with the character. |

What, 'cause they kilt off Cyclops?
A refreshing change, Marvel making plans at a time when long term strategy is a risky business. I took two of my kids (the eldest was bowling) to see 'The Water Horse' today. There was a very cool full-length Joker cutout in the cinema... |

I like the lead up too...builds anticipation which thrills movie nerds and also does great for opening night from a business perspective. I didn't notice the Captain America shield though As for the blue serum...I'm not sure if that was a coincidence... Wasn't Captain America supposed to be set in the WWII era? I'm sure Hollywood intends on modernizing it to fit with Ironman and the Hulk. But will they have the Red Skull? And I wonder if Ironman 2 will feature Terrence Howard in the suit? |

I guy I work with is a major comics fan and he told me about this before the Hulk movie was even released - apparently it's quite the buzz. Now that Marvel has ownership of their movies they intend to build an entire story structure.
I've also heard that for the Thor movie they're using the guy from Rome to play Donald Blake. You know that look a woman gets when she wants sex? Neither do I. |

I always liked DC Comics better, but they're almost 10 years behind Marvel when it comes to movies. Batman Begins was awesome (and I expect the new one to be also) but Superman Returns was kind of lame. Hopefully the sequel will have him fighting an enemy whose power matches his. What I really want to see is a Green Lantern and Justice League movie.
