Yeah those old timers seem like they'll always be there, and like they always have... Sadly, when they go, people like me and you are going to have some mighty big shoes to fill... It truly boggles the mind when you consider all the scoutmasters and pretty much everyone at or below the council level is a volunteer and those that are not don't exactly make the big bucks, yet year in year out, they do so much for so many kids.

ranger--no, you and your post and your hatred will do you in. I will tell you though that at this time, if you decide to take up arms against this country, you will not only fight the military, you will fight people like me and those that understadn this government isn't perfect, but it damn sure itn't to a point where it needs to be removed through violence and the talk of such does nothing but put people like me on alert for people like you.

Too much government is the problem.
The roaring '20s weren't all bull. Coolidge was a real limited government advocate, and look at the economy during his office? Booming. Yes, recessions/panics happen, but unless they're a fascist like FDR in the House, they clean themselves up in a year at most (look at history). Government is OF the people....the states created the federal government, not vice versa. We are a nation with a government, not vice versa. Maybe after another great depression people will learn. But I doubt it. And as far as rebellion is concerned....Freedom is our right as humans...no government has the right to take it away. If they try, we have the right to protect it...with force if necessary. I'm all for it if it comes to that. If the EPA comes out and tells me I can't drive my 4x4 because it uses "too much gas".....dam* will I be ticked. |

You right, GW, and if fat, lazy citizens would wake up, recognise and be ashamed that they are clamoring to be taken care of like pampered children instead of putting forth reasonable effort to become informed, active, effective functionaries of our nation, the power/money hungry and power/money crazed public "servants" in DC and state capitals could be identified, weeded out and replaced. We are in a period of nation building. We need to rid America of people who would rape our country for selfish personal gain or for their imagined "poor me" state of mind. I am enemy to anyone who commits violence against America or my fellow citizens whether they be urban thugs/gangs, self indulgent Congressmen who think their position puts them outside our law or military veterans who foment armed insurection. |

Un-federalized National Guard is NOT the military. They are a state police agency. Ever hear of 18 USC 1385? read it.

So when the NG is activated for AD, they're not military, just police? Wow, we sure have a lot of non-military folks fighting a war right now. |

I think you need to go back to basic training and learn a little about the military heirarchy. Or learn to read. As I said: if the NG is NOT federalized, they are NOT military. They are federalized when they are called to active duty. At THAT time, they become a military component. The way they are able to assist in law enforcement and not be in violation of 18 USC 1385 (the Posse Comitatus Act) is that they remain a state agency - and NON military - until such time as they are federalized. I think that is a simple concept to grasp. |

I think, Snake, you are just another of those "military-haters" who try to buy into any story that demonizes the armed forces and push an agenda. Either way, get the facts before pushing statements like "military confiscating all firearms after Katrina." You are not being accurate.
