Lie One: No one will be compelled to buy coverage.

Lie Two: No new taxes on employer benefits.

Lie Three: Government can control rising health care costs better than the private sector.

Lie Four: A public plan won't be a Trojan horse for a single-payer monopoly.

Lie Five: Patients don't have to fear rationing.

Dont ask questions!

Fortunately we are in a national debate over the issue because many understand how important it is. The rhetoric you choose to use in the title of this thread is not productive and most will tune it out as the usual obstructionist language of the right.

We will have health care reform, with or without the republicans and it will not be exactly as Obama wants. He is smart enough to know that "deciders" often walk away empty handed. Wink

Yes Kit, you pretty much nailed that one. There is no question that Forbes is just as much a hack as those at Huffington...partisans that add zero to getting the job done.

You're out of your mind. The Forbes article is pretty straight forward and on the money. Sure its using some hyberbole to make its points, buts facts are dead on the money.

"For the first time in history, he wants to tax your health benefits," he thundered. "Apparently, Sen. McCain doesn't think it's enough that your health premiums have doubled. He thinks you should have to pay taxes on them too."

Yet now Obama is signaling his willingness to go along with a far worse scheme to tax employer-sponsored benefits to fund the $1.6 trillion or so it will cost to provide universal coverage. Contrary to Obama's allegations, McCain's plan did not ultimately entail a net tax increase because he intended to return to individuals whatever money was raised by scrapping the tax deduction. Not so with Obama."

It is called a debate.

quote:
"You went after him for suggesting that we tax that money," Gibson said to Obama.

"I continue to believe that it would be the wrong way to go for us to eliminate the deduction, or the exclusion, on healthcare benefits," Obama replied. "That essentially taxes current benefits."

But, he said, among the options being discussed in Congress to cap the exclusion of healthcare benefits so that so-called gold-plated plans might pay more in taxes, might have to be part of the conversation.

"There's going to have to be some compromise at the end of the day," Obama said.

Totally disregarding the very individuals who are instrumental in developing this train wreck say as much.

Reading you posts...I get an eerie sense that even though Pres Obama tells you that you will loose your private coverage you refuse to believe him.

I wonder what it is like to live in such a haze...

Typical gunny post, a report with zero facts and one anecdote.

Well how about this gunny: Canadians pay half what we do for health care and live on average two years longer.

Ahh, forget about the fact that we are a richer nation. Forget about how we spend more on infrastructure, energy, defense, space programs yada yada yada than most if not all the other countries that spend less on their health care.

We also need to nationalize weight loss. Forward... MARCH!

We need to nationalize EVERYTHING so it will be cheaper...except taxes. Oh wait. Forgot that it was to be free.

Canada has a great medical health care system...the Canadians think it is great my wife's Medical Residency partner was Canadian and loves her job in the system in Toranto. They both trained at Yale Medical School.

I think we have a great health care system. Better than Canada's.

Well if you are going to knock something, you should at least know a little about that something. Seems gunny knows a little less than a little about that something.

I know you'll have forgotten this sentance before I write the next one...

But I've been doing just that in thread after thread for a week or more.

Maybe you could actually read and attempt to retain some of that knowledge. Honestly, if you try..you may learn something. Or maybe not.

Personally I think...some specifics on what the President hopes to accomplish...and by what means...and at what cost...might be germane to this particular "debate"...

Carry on...

Thanks, but no thanks for the advice. When I wish to learn about health care I surely won't be going to gunny...nor you for that matter.

But how about we look at what the people who use the systems think?

There seems to be missing words "...". Please be so kind as to show us what is missing.

It is pretty clear that you will believe only those things that fit your world view. Not my problem.

But for those that might want to know where the chart came from, it was from a gallup poll:

More numbers without understanding.

Yet another aspect DM has missed..

Where are all the new MD's going to come from, that will be required under your plan, and how will they get paid?
